    Keep 2010 CR-V or upgrade to 2013?

I bought a '10 4wd EX-L in Feb 2010, trading in my '05 CR-V. I love my car, but I've gotten curious about the '13. My local dealer is looking for late models, and sent me an email and letter about upgrading. I've been emailing with the sales director - he's quoting me a 2013 CR-V 4wd EX-L for $27,766 including Honda's destination fee of $830, and one with nav for $29,170.00 including destination. He hasn't seen my '10 in person, but I sent him pics, and he has a carfax report of when I was rear-ended, and the bumper and rear door had to be replaced. He's quoting me around $17K for the '10.

I know this is a personal q, and it depends on finances, but does it make sense to upgrade? I have about $10K left on my loan from Honda. I can definitely put in aftermarket electronics myself for a lot cheaper, though the redesign gives slightly better gas mileage, a tiny bump in horses, and a slightly smoother and quieter ride (I drove my father's).

Any thoughts on this? Or generally on upgrading every few years (like I do with my computers) as opposed to keeping it for as long as it's running well?

    Thanks!

I really appreciate the rearview camera in my 2013. It's one thing I thought I wouldn't need that I really use a lot and like. Are there any must-have features that you can think of you want in the newly designed model? That is what would sway me the most. This 2013 I have has so many features I definitely want to keep it 7+ years.

I like the backup camera and bluetooth for sure, though I could always add them as an aftermarket option. The reviews definitely show some advantages, and slightly better gas mileage. A few folks are saying the new electronic steering is not as weighted as the older hydraulics - not sure if consumers have complained about that. I wish it had a peppier engine with direct injection, but so it goes. If I could take some of the features of the new Accord and put them in the CR-V, I'd go for it for sure, like the engine, handling and lane assist.

If you have the money, go for it. Personally, I don't trade in until the car is at least ten years old or has more than 100 thousand on the odometer. I feel that I didn't get my use out of it at any less. My latest trade in was 8 years old with 114k and the trans was slipping.

Honda started sending me letters when my 2010 CRV 4WD was a year old saying I could upgrade to a new one for little or no additional money monthly. My CRV is still spotless and hasn't been dinged by a shopping cart yet. I get 24 t0 25 mpg local driving, and about 28 mpg on the highway. I guess I would have to extend my loan to make up the difference, but I'm looking forward to paying off my loan and having some free years before I replace it. I wouldn't sell it for less than 20k.

I wish I could get $20K for it, but because of the rear-ender and the carfax, I don't think I can get it - maybe from a 3rd party.

Of course, I could also wait 6 months or so and see what they have in store for the 2014. If they do a mid-cycle refresh with updated components, esp the powertrain, it might be worth waiting.

Keep your 2010. Why give up your car for the remake of the Pontiac Aztek? What were they thinking when they designed that rearend?

I voted keep it----but depends how much damage was done to it---vehicles are never the same after an accident!! Always take it to carmax and see what they would offer you, or sell it privately

Actually all Honda dealers send out the come on adds.
Mine started 6 months after delivery of the 2010 EX-L 4WD.
And haven't stopped, one every 90 days. Why not investigate
with "comsumers report" and "Kellys BB". Weither you have a
budget or not, always discuss a better deal for YOU.
Its your MONEY. I keep 4 - 5 years, sell and get new.....repeat.
