TPMS and Traction Control - Another Fun Fact

Guess what happens when you put on your snow tires if you don't buy 4 more sensors to put in the snow tires that you used on your last car?

    TPMS fail light comes on.

Now your traction control is automatically on and you cannot turn it off. Guess what the manual tells you to do to get moving in snow? Turn your traction control off until you get going. Not possible.

Honda, your engineers are morons and your cars are cheap crap. Where you excel is in how you can bang the metal thinner, put the paint on thinner, put in the absolute minimum to make a car yet make it look good for the short term. Then, all the flaws reveal themselves. This is where you are really good.

Every week I find some other piece of %$#@ design that they cleverly hide until you own it. Last Honda I will ever buy, ever.

Why would someone put new cars on their tires and disable the TPMS system?

Nobody I know puts new cars on their tires... I have 4 snow tires on rims from a previous car. Honda wants me to buy 4 TPMS sensors to put in the tires. Have you priced the sensors? Dismount the tires, mount the sensors, rebalance the tires. Not.
Without the sensors, no TPMS. By the way, it took the computer over two weeks to realize the sensors were now in the garage, not on the car.

Not unique to Honda. TPMS sucks. Maybe eventually they'll improve it. But who needs it. I say drop it like other government mandated junk like active seat belts.

I have winter wheels with TPMS sensors. Like you said, it takes a lot of driving and time to even show a warning after swapping wheels. What if you have a tire going down during that time? Nothing. Useless!!! Luckily my dealer only charges $22 to reset.

At my age sometimes I mix up cars with tires. I just purchased four new tires for my VW. TPMS sensors included with purchase.

Xbank..... Honda has made some serious mis steps with Tech on the car but TPMS is NOT one of them.... It's Industry wide. ANY car with a TPMS installed would do the same exact thing. Traction control, TPMS, and all those bells and whistles are done in the name of safety; like it or not.
