Euro spec/export/non-north american lights traditionally have a much better defined beam pattern,a sharp cut off, with more usable light.
HID-high intensity discharge lights are available but much pricier and more of a challenge to wire up.
I am after the halogen ones. They are my recomendation to forum. Overall an easier swap.
The entire assembly is changed.
As I type, NO idea on price.

The Euro style headlights have LED daytime running lights and HIDs, I believe. See them up close here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bigblogg/8059661933/
Believe Euro versions have LEDs in the rear also...
I would be very interested if there is a way to use these on a US-version 2012 CR-V EX, especially if they are a "plug and play" conversion without any or minor modifications to the wiring harness.
FYI: I replaced the factory headlight bulbs on my 2012 Honda CR-V EX (just had it's 1yr anniversary yesterday with over 31K miles) with a set of Sylvania Silverstar Ultras (Part Number:9003/HB2) and they work great. I have done a couple of long road trips on them so far and the night visibility is greatly improved over the stock bulbs. You can find them on the internet for about about $35.00 a pair with free shipping and no tax.
Got the Sylvania Ultras, with regard to install, couple of things. You do NOT have to twist the bulbs, there is a spring like wire that holds it in place, this pops off (attached at on side) and the bulb comes out. You have to slide the new bulb in correctly for this to fit back properly. And you should grease up the connector when you replace. Other than that, is was pretty simple.
H4'S are the OE replacement bulbs. I just put a pair of Piaa extreme white h4 bulbs. Low beam they are great high beam, no better than stock bulbs.
So, here we all are complaining about the horrible lights. We go and buy aftermarket replacements and then test them vigorously; sharing our findings on the best and worst ones.....
The question that has been burning for me is: Why have we not started a class action lawsuit against Honda!? Why have we not demanded that Honda recall and replace the Obviously poor reflector assembly OR better yet; replace with the HID assembly like the CR-V should have had!? It's pretty ridiculous that in this day and age; Car makers can make this sort of mistake and then expect the people who purchase the product to just deal with it.
Headlights are something that most people do not even think about when buying a car. It's one of those things that should just work no matter what. The first time I drove at night; I was severely disappointed in the performance or lack there of.
Now I don't have the slightest clue how to get a class action ball rolling but, I would certainly jump on that wagon fast enough; how about you folks?
I'm a lawyer, but I know very little about class action lawsuits. My guess is that there's not much to litigate unless you can portray it as a safety item, a clear and present danger. Saying it's a poor design is probably not going to cut it. I hate to put it this way, but someone may have to get killed or seriously hurt in an accident that's tied to the inadequate headlights before there's something to sink your teeth into here.
That's my educated guess. But I'll speak to a few people I know and I'll get back to everyone here.
Thanks for the reply.... Sadly, That is what I thought would be said. I have however; lodged a formal complaint with the NTSB about the lighting. I hope that others here will do the same as I'm sure that the more complaints the NTSB gets about the headlights; the better the chance for action.

I think that the problem is not so much in the headlight design but rather in the factory headlight alignment. I went into my dealer and complained about the poor headlights, especially the high-beams and they checked them out and said that they are aligned exactly the way that the factory specifies. I told them that it's useless and I have no need for seeing the tops of trees and want to see the road instead. They aligned the headlights to point much lower and to be more or less level with one another. The result is a huge difference in visibility. I drove last night from Philadelphia to Toronto and was very comfortable with the visibility, especially with the high-beams. I am still planning on installing Osram Nightbreakers in order to get a bit more distance but I could live with the way they are now.
