    NAV DVD Updates

    Honda,

Why do you force nav owners to purchase a new dvd for $185 just to get updates? Why can't updates be downloaded like any other software product? I can understand charging a yearly maint fee but to layout a 185 bucks everytime is crazy.

Not to justify the cost, but Honda (or whomever makes the Nav unit for them) has to buy map updates from a small handful of map makers. They need to charge to stay in business.

Now if you ask me, Honda should eat the cost and at least provide updates for 3yrs as good will.

FAULTY and OUTDATED DVD NAV MAPS

I purchased a 2007 CRV EXL Navi in september of 2007.
On a recent trip to Princeton, New Jersey from New York, we found the navi map showed us directions to a different part of New Jersey with the same street name. So Instead of leading us to Princeton NJ, we ended up in a dark street in Highland Park, NJ.

    Intended destination : Treetops, Princeton , NJ , 08540
Faulty destination : Treetops Dr, Highland Park, NJ 08904
A difference on 10 Miles apart.

When we finally figured the way using the old fashioned way of phone assisted guidance, We turned the navi on at the final destination. Voila .. IT DID NOT show up the streets or surrounding streets.

This street was a part recent development of houses that was about 3-4 years old ( 2003 / 2004 ). So i can only assume that the Navigator maps was more than 4 years old. I was appaled.
How can Honda Fit a MAP guidance that shows maps of 4 years old into latest model..

I really DO NOT LIKE the IDEA of shelling down money for the NEW NAVI MAP UPDATE DVD..

Thanks, But would appreciate if HONDA would issue a recall and issue new NAVI MAPS...

Added: Jan 22, 2008 : It appears that the DVD for the Navi is the latest available on Honda. Blah... The latest DVD with the Oldest maps ....

We dont want an incident that creates a transportation or a hazard to realize that this map product is defective and can cause mistakes.

DVD defects and outdated information should come under warranty replacement. Its my intrepration or should we take it to court for some sort of class action...What do you say folks ?
