Thumbs down 2013 Honda Yellow USB update

Seriously!?! For $149.00 for the USB stick!! I'd really like to review the changes/updates for folks on this site but, it seems that Honda Nav issues codes that do not work!
I cannot believe the level of stupidity with hondanavi.com! It's absolutely WRONG to charge a customer, ship the product and then tell them it will take 2-3 business days to escalate an invalid code issue WHICH; by the way is apparently rampant with this Yellow update! There is nothing the normal call center can do once an issue is escalated; they are forced to wait for corporate to actually receive the escalation and then act on it.

My advice on the Yellow USB update is to pass on it. I've got a $149.00 USB that I can't make use of.

    Piss poor showing for sure!

I'm glad I passed up on the navigation....though it makes the center stack look nicer. The garmin that I use is sufficient with lifetime map updates, but I find myself using Waze and apple maps more.

Update: Still no fix. I've placed at least 6 calls and am told the same thing each time. They claim to be working on it and have also claimed to have pulled the Yellow update from the site. They have one more week and then I'll place another call and get my refund.

The Very last time I buy ANY make car with Factory Navigation. What a hassle!

I asked about map updates when the salesman tried to sell us Navi. I told the wife that we could buy an nice Magellan or Garmin for $150. We decided to skip the Navi, although I like the the display on the Navi head unit.

I was told by the salesman at Brilliance Honda in Crystal Lake, IL that nav updates were free, automatic and downloaded over the internet. Since Garmin gives away free updates on a $300 nav, it seemed reasonable to believe that Honda would on a $1000 option. But I was a fool.

I had the same experience as Tuktanuk...

Went to the update site 4 or 5 weeks ago and requested info on what improvements were included in the update - no response - completely ignored. After a few weeks, I bit the bullet and ordered the update anyway because I was so frustrated with the performance of the existing software version. Paid my $149 (a crime!), got the USB - Password did not work! Called 3 or 4 times, waited another week and a half and finally got a password that worked.

Happy ending? NO. A total rip off? YES. No improvement in routing, still only about 20% of streets labeled on the 1/20 mile view, major roads still missing, etc., etc. There is one small improvement in the update... for those who hate to push the "OK" button every time you start the car, the update no longer requires it (it automatically goes to the map screen after 5 seconds). So, if you don't like pushing the OK button and you don't mind spending another $149 on a totally outdated Navi system, go for it. Seriously, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ! (In fact, send me the $149 and I'll come over every morning and push the OK button for you.)

If you're as frustrated and PO'ed as me and Tuk, let us know - and Tell HONDA !

Finally! They called Last night and gave me a working code. It took 20 minutes + for the maps to update (with the engine running). The annoying OK button now goes away on it's own AND the phone will now automatically connect! It's the little things, I know but still. No word yet on the routing; fingers are crossed that it's better than the older version because the routes it would pick sucked. Having read RebCR-V's post; it's not looking good for routing options though. Really disappointing to see the lack of street names as well.

Can someone give me the phone number of the call center? I would to call them before I would ever order one and see if all of this stuff is fixed.
    Thanks
