Well, I had a Gen1 and a Gen 2. Never ever used that table. Dumb idea IMO. True that it provided a sturdy base, but anything better than cardboard would have done that.

There are always two sides to everything.

 

I remember that table! I should have kept it when I traded it in back in 2008. It was a neat picnic table and pretty sturdy. I also miss it. But I always hated that big tire hanging on the back.

 

I liked the tire because I could install a bike rack on it. Much easier to use than a hitch type rack. Also I liked the additional storage under the shelf where the spare would have gone.

 

I love the shelf in our 3rd gen CRV, it basically doubles the cargo space. Not in our 2017.

 

I use my table from my 1998 CR-V all the time, especially when tailgating at football games. Still works great after 19 years and 240,000 miles.

 

It would make a nice accessory package! Camping package with the table and a tent

 

You have to wonder why Honda doesn't make it avail. as an accessory; there's certainly the space for it if the load floor is on the upper setting.

 

We've used the picnic table on several occasions, it's a feature my wife really likes.

 

I actually rather liked the accessory picnic table feature. Shame they don't do it anymore...
