We have had a litany of similar problems that started with intermittent nav system failures on our 2012 Touring. I had initially thought that leaving the headlights on auto may have caused the power drop -- but the problem occurred under normal highway driving conditions when the power system should have been fully charged. We discussed the problem with the dealer who offered no explanation other than "the power sytem is designed to shut down unnecessary features when starvation sets in" -- we should have been more assertive at that time I guess (mistake #1!). The final act came last Friday when my wife went to use the car, started it, and backed it up a couple of feet to open the hood to fill the washer reservoir (having first turned off the ignition). On attempting to restart the car there was virtually no power -- at least not enough to crank the starter motor. After getting a boost from Honda's emergency service I drove to Canadian Tire to pick up a trickle charger, boosted the battery overnight and drove to the dealer next day. Initially the dealer mentioned a software fix to prevent the battery from discharging but further diagnosis revealed an apparent alternator failure -- I guess we'll see; part arriving tomorrow. After a rant the dealer did provide us with a loaner vehicle (initially no offer -- we took an hour and a half walk home -mistake #2-, annoying but great exercise).
Still in shock -- this is our 5th Honda since 1992, what happened to their peerless quality!
