    2007 CR-V door lock problem

I'm a new member, but i did search, and could not find my exact problem.

    I have a 2007 CR-V LX auto, awd.

My door locks will not stop auto-locking.

As soon as i unlock the doors, the lock right away. Does not matter if I unlock just the driver or all, from the remote or from the switches inside. They just lock back right away. Hatch is affected too.

I looked in the owners manual and tried turning off the auto-lock feature, but it does not make a difference.

    Please help! thanks in advance.

It sounds like a short in one of the door lock switches, try operating the switch in each door.

Then check the relay in the fuse panel for a short, or swap test it with an identical unit. Do they do the same thing with another relay? If this is what I think (constant trigger from a switch or short), you'll want to replace the relay anyway.

At that point I'd pull the door panels and unplug the switches one at a time - repeat test. Then check the wiring harness for damage.

If you need diagrams on the doors, I'm sure someone here in the forum can find one. Good luck and please follow-up on this.

Most likely cause is a bad door lock actuator. The 97-2006's are most affected with this issue but we still see the odd 2007+ with the same problem.

Is there any easy way to troubleshoot a bad lock actuator? Or basically unplug them one at a time, and test for the issue?

    hello all,

I went out and tested the situation with each door lock individually. The drivers door seems to have an issue. At first was I was not able to unlock the lock manually, it was stuck locked. Then I used the power switch, all the doors unlocked and relocked themselves as they have been doing. Now, I was able to operate the driver's lock switch manually.

So, to further this. I pressed drivers switch into the unlock position and pressed the power unlock switch, all other doors unlocked, then all (including driver) relocked themselves.

Finally, I pressed and held the driver's locked switch in the unlock position, while holding it I press the power unlock and all doors unlocked, and stayed unlocked! I let go of the drivers locked, and they still stayed unlocked!

So, I've made some progress. I seems to be an issue in the drivers lock. I know the car has the feature that if the manually lock the driver's door, it locks them all. I'm wondering if it somehow thinks that the drivers lock is always locked, which is why it keeps re-locking them.

Bad actuator? or should I be replacing something else?

    thanks all!

    hello all,

i ended up getting a new actuator, i took off the door panel, and plugged in the new actuator, it seems to work fine now.

so, now i'm trying to installed the new actuator and i can't seem to remove the rod off the back of the outside door handle. I know the rod is barbed on the end, and i took the plastic catch off the rod, but i cannot seem to be able to remove that barbed end of the rod from where it is. I pull on it, but nothing. I feel like if i pull too hard i'm going to break it.

its there a trick to remove it or am i missing something?

    thanks!

just to update everyone. I was able to get the door handle rod unhooked. it was easiest to lever it out using a offset hook.

the new actuator is installed and the problem with the locks seems to be resolved.

    thanks for all the help!

Angry Honda CR-V door locks are defects

    Hello All!,

I am having the same problem with my 2007 CRV - its a defect and they are not admitting to it. They say its a normal wear and tear but I have had two locks go on within one year and I will not accept that its a war and tear.

I had a 1997 CR-V for over 11 years and did not have any problems with anything. This new CR-V has everything wrong with them.

I was sold a lemon due to this problem and others. I am taking this further because you can not convince me that after seven cars, that a doors locks constantly going bad is a normal wear and tear.

Smile Might have found some information for us CR-V owners

    Go to this website:
    http://chimicles.com/case/honda-acur...tuator-failure

Better yet, this is what I found:

Honda and Acura Door Lock Actuator Failure
    Practice:
    Consumer Protection
    Phase:
    Investigation

Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating a proposed class action lawsuit against Honda for alleged premature door lock actuator failure in certain models of Honda and Acura vehicles. These models may contain a defect predisposing the door locks to not lock and/or not unlock electronically as a result of a failed door lock actuator. This problem may result in expensive repairs being needed to the door locking mechanism.

If you have experienced door locking and/or unlocking problems due to a faulty door lock actuator in your Honda or Acura vehicle then please contact one of the following attorneys.
