Usually in big snow you need all the power you can get to get out of there and when you start to drive a little crazy all the systems decide to switch on and assist you like the traction control "!" light which slows you down!!! Nothing more insulting then getting stuck in a 4X4.

Sad but the only time I would like to switch off the VSA to have full control of MY vehicle is when it snows and is not possible because I do not have TPMS sensors in my spare wheels. I find that sad that I would have to pay lots of money to procure new sensors to get that feature...there should be a TMPS off switch but I know rules & regulations of governments@!#%

I hear you. That is why I decided to just run snows on the same rims and pay the $50 twice a year to have the dealer swap them. It is definately a major PITA for what it does and I definately would like to have the option to turn it off.....maybe future models?!

    Rest TPMS fee

I also switch tires and rims for the winter and was glad to have done so this year! In order to keep the TPMS I bought four new sensors for the winter rims. The next day the sensor went off and I had to return to have it reset - at no charge. Everything was great...until I swtiched back to my all seasons and was hit with an extra $54 fee to resync the TPMS. I believe that this needs to be done each time there is a switch, which will equal $108 per year.

Does anyone know if all that they are doing is pressing a reset button? If so, it sure is an expensive item. Add that to the charge for changing the tires/rims and it sure adds up. Had I known this I may have stuck with one set of rims and changed the tires between them!

No, it's not just pressing a button or I would have gone the same route you did with running seperate rims for my snows. The Honda dealer needs to reconfigure the PCM (computer) to the new sensors since evidently the system was only designed to allow 4 sensors in memory at any given time. No more painless at home wheel changes in the driveway with the new system.

Here's the dealer procedure for initiation if you want to read it:

From my point of view VSA has to be de-activated mostly during severe winter conditions only. So how about switching the TPMS sensors on the winter tires mag wheels. So on the summer tire we will have the TPMS light on without being able to disengage the VSA (who care's !!). And during the winter, as the sensors will be on the winter tires, we will be able to disengage them. The only question is: Does the sensors will fit a 2006 CRV 16" mag wheel ??

Likewise. I just ordered a duplicate set of Honda OEM 10-spoke aloys, TPMS sensors, center caps, etc for my 2010 CR-V. I,m putting a set of Nokia Hakkapellita R-SUV's on them for the winter. I have the dealer do the seasonal tire swaps for me anyway (they rebalance them each time), so I figure they can reset the TPMS system at the same time.

I put my winter tires on my 2010 CRV, winter tires mounted on steel black rims with no sensors, 300kms later, and my TPMS light has still not come on....weird....

    Hi all!

I know this is an old topic and I'm sorry for bringing it back up but I just bought a '09 EX-L Navi CRV and am on the verge of buying a second set of mags before I stumble on this thread! I notice that the last post is from 2010 and the vehicle discussed in here is a 2008 CR-V so I'm just checking in to see if there is any update on this?

    Thanks for your precious help!

no difference from what you have read, you still have to go to the Honda dealer to reset your TPMS system if you intend on putting sensors on the second set of wheels/tires, or just run the second set without the sensors and live with the TPMS light until you put the original set on. black tape works well.

Has anyone used an ATEQ QuickSet TPMS reset tool to program the summer/winter sensors on a 2013 CR-V. ATEQ says it will work up to 2012 CR-V and the 2013 appears to be the same vehicle as the 2012 but I'm wondering if anyone has tired it. ATEQ can't give me a definite answer. Town Fair Tire has reset the light twice now and it just comes back on after a few days. Using OEM Honda sensors on aftermarket alloy wheels.
