Odd Sound coming from front passenger side..

Hey everyone,

I have a 2005 CRV with 95k on the OD. Just started hearing a odd noise from the front suspension. Only hear it when turning left at low speeds around 10mph while giving it gas. I also hear it when going in reverse backing into a parking space. it's almost like popping/grinding sounds? Hard to verbalize a noise . The car has not had any front end suspension work done. Possible Knuckle/wheel baring issue? I'm not to familiar with front wheel drive cars and I hear that can cause noises.

Are you sure it's not your front seat passenger grinding his teeth? Sorry, couldn't resist that.
Seriously, it sounds like CV joints knocking. Check if the rubber boot is damaged, if it is then grit has got in and the only solution is to replace the joints. No hurry though, they can go on for months before they really fail.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to get under the car Saturday and checked all the suspension components and boots, they all seemed ok for 95k. What I did find was the heat shield on the cat 3 of the 4 bolts were rusted out and it was flapping in the wind. I took the wife for a drive to let her hear the noise, then went under the car a slammed it against the exhaust a few times and she said that's the same sound. Sense all the bolts are rusted to hell and back I had to resort to cutting a coat hanger and "whist-tying" the bottom heat shield to the top part. FYI for anyone out there that might hear this same sound. I'm a little shocked at what I found though, i mean these bolts are seriously corroded. Damn salt trucks >.<!! The exhaust bolts are the same way; When it comes time to replace the cat i'm going to need a blow torch to clean up those nuts.

Go to your local home center (home depot or lowes) and get two stainless steel strap clamps and clamp the heat shields together. Problem fixed. The coat hanger will work, but will rust away. Should be less than $10.00 total.
