Thanks for the suggestion..if I turn it slowly I can hear the relay making noise but this is different from the loud buzzing that comes directly from the steering column when the incident occurs. That is why I think there is an electrically problem with the igniton switch and that this is not an issue with the relay, which the dealer keeps coming back to.

The car goes in tomorrow and I am going to ask for the ignition switch to be replaced...we'll see what happens

We'll.......same old story. CRV taken in and dealer states that it is normal to have the buzzing/no start situation and that it is just beacuse we do not know how to properly turn the key when starting the car.

Next step is to catch it on video and post on Youtube. I'll post a link when we do and see what you think.

As promised...we got it on video-->buzzing sound when key turned to start and then after a few moments (sometimes longer or after key is turned on and off) the car will start. Dealer states this is 100% normal and how the CRV is designed to start. Does yours do this??????????

The deal is that you could have bumped this thread instead of starting a new one.

I appologize that no one had an answer for you. This isn't a common issue and apperantly none of our members have come across this before.

I had the same problem with my 2010 CR-V. Called the service manager at the local dealership who promptly gave me an appointment for replacement of the starter. Problem solved. Everything covered by Honda. I'll go back there when ready to buy another vehicle.

Thats good to know, thanks. I've always thought that the problem is with the igntiion switch in the cabin but maybe its the starter.

Since the dealer has not been able to help, I just fax a letter to main Honda customer service with the link to the video. Hope they open a case and advise the dealer how to fix it. Warrenty is up in Spring 2013 so would like to get this resolved before then!
