    Replacing the VTEC Solenoid Valve (CRV 2002)

    Hi;

    Is it a hard job to replace the VTEC solenoid valve on a CRV 2002?
    If I wanna do it myself, is there an illustrated guide to do so?

    Thanks.

    There is a plethora of information in this thread.

    I would like to know where the bloody VTEC Solenoid is, because I need to clean the screen so the damn check engine light stops coming on. Every time the CEL comes on, the bloody thing goes into limp mode.

    Hey Tony, have you tried doing a Google search for it or searched this forum?
    When I first got our CR-V I went and looked around at a lot of the old posts and found numerous ones, some with video links in them too, all related to the VTEC system and the solenoid.

    Yes, I have searched this forum, and the net.

    I have since found out where the VTEC oil pressure switch is, as well as the VTEC Valve assembly that it is attached to. All I have to do, is to remove the cruise control actuator, and I'll have access to it. There is a filter in between the VTEC Valve Assembly, and the engine head.

    I am going to try an oil & filter change first.

    Good luck!
    I think if the screen is clogged enough to throw a code you'll have to get in there and clean it out though.

    I replaced mine in December, it was a fairly easy job. Remove the passenger wheel and get in from the side. My filter screen was very clean, the valve itself had an issue.
