    Differential Fluid 1 quart

I have a question regarding the differential fluid change. I was reading the forum and it is advised to change the fluid twice with a couple of days gap and some tight turning in circles. My 98 crv takes 1.1 quart per oil change. My question is can I buy 2 quarts (1quart per bottle) of Honda Dual pump fluid ll and first fill with 0.9 quart and then second time fill with 1.1 quart? This will save me a third bottle which will be useless because it will be a long time after I change another time. Will running 0.2 quart low on fluid cause any damage, when I do the first oil change?

I suppose you could try this if you are really trying to save a buck. Or you could not quite drain it all the way the second time. Instead I would buy the appropriate amount and then planning on changing it again in 20,000 miles. This will get you back on schedule as this is the recommended change interval.

Drain the diff. If more than 1 q comes out put the extra back in after you put the new Q in. Run the car for a couple of days and repeat the drain fill as before.

Thanks, no I want to buy three but it is not available here. I am in the middle east and have searched everywhere but no luck. I was thinking to order from usa, thats why I asked if two will be ok. One more question, my friend is going to usa. Can he bring the dual pump fluid in his suitcase, or will it be a problem?

The fluid would be a problem in carry on luggage. Should be able to put it in checked luggage.

I would just do it one time, as that is usually enough. If you want to do it twice, I would put in 9/10 of a qt + a little AT fluid to make up the difference. Then on the second fill, just use the real stuff. I believe AT fluid was the recommended rear differential fluid for that year CRV. My friends 2000 CRV had well over 100K miles on it before I changed it (once, not twice).

Edit: Actually, the recommended fluid for that year was Honda CVT , and not Honda ATF.
