Radio Code issues

My battery died, tried to use code given by dealer, but it does not work. Help!

Same thing happened to me when I replaced my battery a week ago. A Radio Code number was written on the PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection) form that was WRONG.

Fortunately, there was other paperwork from the purchasing dealer that had the correct number.

The radio code is attached to the serial number of the radio. Any HOnda dealer can get the code in minutes as long as the have the serial number off the radio. You cannot get the radio code by VIN alone.

Many times that code will be on a sticker in the glove box or other areas. Do an online search.
BTW, what yr is your CRV?

Just curious......I had some dead battery issues on my 2012 CRV and went through the computer reflash procedure ast week. But at the time, I was dreading the infamous "Enter Code" problem which fortunately did not happen --- this time. So just to be safe for any future problems, I went through my paperwork looking for the new vehicle Radio Theft Code sticker and determined that I never got one. Honda's help page states that in addition to the VIN, the device serial number would also be needed before they can supply you with the code. The problem is...how does one get the serial number of the device. Apparently the nav systems have no way of electronically displaying this info. Or does the security code issue even apply to the nav systems on the 2012 CRV?

On the inside of the front cover of my owners manual there is a sticker with two numbers printed on it, nothing else. The top number has 5 digits, the bottom number has 8 digits. Which number, if any, would likely be the radio code?

I plan storing the radio code in my iPhone in a note.

5 digits is the code
8 digits is the serial #
