Brakes failed in snow and unusual slipping in the road

I bought my 201l2 Honda CRV EX in October 2012. Today morning (12/01/2012) it was snowing and I took out the car on Road. I applied the brakes to slow down the car in the traffic signal, but my brakes didn't work. Fortunately, there was no car ahead of me and it was a green light. After sometime while taking a turn my back tires slipped and my car hit the curb. I was at a very slow speed. I took my car to the Honda Service Center and they checked my ABS and braking system and said everything is working fine. I want to know if anybody else also faced this problem.

you probably slipped on ice. ABS, AWD, all those other features aren't going to save you. proper winter tires might have though.

Remember, factory tires are designed more for a quiet, soft ride than for snow traction.

X2 on the advice to invest in a set of proper snow tires...any type with the "mountain and snowflake" on the sidewall will be a vast improvement.
