Sudden cut out, engine light on, etc...

Good evening all, new here so be gentle! I have an '02 UK CRV auto. It has 111000 miles on it. A week ago, just after starting and pulling away, it cut out and stopped, and the yellow engine light came on. I've popped new plugs in and checked for sparks from all the coils, all good.
The symptoms are, WON't fire up without throttle, WON'T hold idle,WILL rev cleanly past about 1,200-1,500 rpm.
I've changed oil and air filters, fresh oil, new plugs and a new Cam position sensor( just one)
It came up with fault code indicating cam sensor. I'm now thinking, EGR valve?..Idle air control valve?
Any help MUCH appreciated. I'm a Honda lover, long time RC30 owner, don't want to lose the faith!

    Cheers.

Hey there in the UK, Had a similar issue with an older CRV.Would have to hold throttle down and crank crank crank, then it would start throttle up ok but Idle high.started cold fine but after warm up not start again with out cranking..... Replaced coil and no more problems. Hope this helps. I also did everything you have done with same codes coming up.

Thanks for reply. It doesn't need LOADS of gas to start, but won't hold any kind of idle without throttle. Could it be BOTH cam sensors? I'll check idle air control once it's stopped snowing here!
    Cheers Chris.

If its giving code for cam sensor then probably its the other cam sensor. You should first try that before messing with other things.

When I 'pull' the plug on the 'bad' cam sensor though there 's no difference in engine.

Maybe I'm not understanding how the sensor operates, but if you pull (disconnect electrically) the plug on the bad sensor, I would expect no change in the engine since it is not functional whether it is plugged in or not. I would think you would get a major change in the engine if you pulled the plug on a good sensor. I don't know how you determined the other sensor was bad. I guess I'm asking why did you change it?

Check this out Tips From Honda Service News It seems odd that your chain would have worn out so early unless you have been stretching your oil change maintenance intervals.

Fixer is right. Pulling a good sensor make a difference to the engine. A dead sensor can have no effect.

Ok. Here's where I'm up to. It seems that the front most of the 2 cam sensors can be disconnected at 'idle' and the engine runs fine. Pull the rear one and it dies instantly. I think the front one has to do with vtec/ load, the other all time running.
Anyway, the only other reason for a persistent 0341 fault code is stretched camchain. I'm now sadly certain that this is now cause. Is there a way to absolutely confirm this?

    Cheers Chris.
