2010 CRV Gripes - Road Noise and others

Hi, here is a list of gripes I have with my CRV

    1) It has just shy of 35K and the original Continental tires. The road noise is aweful which I am now seeing is a known issue after reading some other posts.
    - What tires do you all recommend for quieter replacements? I'm due for tires and I can't deal with this much road noise much longer.

    2) The sun visors are a joke. They are so small and do not extend at all. My '02 Accord had the little extensions and my wife's Saturn Vue actually has a sliding visor so you can position it whereever you want. I'm wondering if I can retrofit a Vue visor in the CRV.
    - Have any of you come up with a good solution to this or am I the only one it bothers? lol

    3) Is there seriously no light in the glove box? I have never seen this in a car before, especially a fully loaded model! I own a 1976 Oldsmobile which came standard with a light....give me a break!

    4) Why does the compartment for an Ipod/Iphone not lock? You're obviously putting something valuable in there...wouldn't it make sense if it locked with the glove box?

    5) Do the headlights actually NOT turn off on their own if you leave them on? I tried this as a test and after a few minutes, they were still on. Mine has automatic lights but sometimes you need to use the manual mode.

Our Saturn Vue is an '08. It's had a few issues since new but we both prefer driving it over the CRV. There is absolutley no comparison in the ride quality and noise level. The vue feels much more like driving a sedan in both aspects. The CRV to me feels very cheap in comparison. I've driven Accords for years before "upgrading" to a CRV for practical purposes and although I like the car overall in how practical it is. I don't see what it really offers that comparable models don't also offer.

Has anybody tried any sound deadening on a 2010 CRV other than just tire replacement? I'm thinking of possibly spraying some undercoating in the wheel wells and maybe installing some sound deadener materials inside on the floors and/or wheel wells.

Here is a link to a thread on sound management. 2009 CR-V Road noise
I carry one of those very small led flashlights in the glove box. I figure I might need it for other things too.
I have to agree with you on the visor too. They were born in the land of the rising sun too, yeh right!

    Thanks Fixer.

I had already been thinking about some sound deadening materials. I just don't understand why something so simple as this isn't done from the factory??? This is hardly a real cost savings and will not damper the performance of the car at all. It makes the car feel very cheap to me. I'm probably going to get a set of Michelins soon and then try dampening the doors and rear compartment a bit. If I don't feel that doesenough, I'm selling the car which I'm already thinking of doing anyway. Again, it's a nearly new car and feels like cheap. Nobody can ever hear me on the phone and being a car nut, driving something that feels cheap and IS NOT does not make me happy with my investment.

    Thanks again!

    John
