Windshield Washers Front and Rear not working

    Hi all,

I've read a few posts around this but wanted to post my question as well. I have a 2011 CRV and today the windshield washer system decided to stop working. They worked last week. I can hear the pump trying to work and filled the tank (it did not need much at all, very normal). Also, the car was warmed up too.

Is there anything else that I can do before heading to the mechanic?

    thanks in advance!

I'm assuming that your not from Tuktoyaktuk (about 52 below now). So we can rule out a frozen line unless your one of those people who use straight water in the summer. Try following the line out of the pump that you hear running to the first branch connector and pull it away from the connector and operate the washer. Before you disconnect any lines see if you can feel one of the lines from the pump that you think is running. You should be able to feel a pulse in the line if you squeeze it slightly between your fingers. If you get flow then the pump is OK and the reservoir is not plugged. There is a blockage further down the line for you to find. No flow requires you to remove the reservoir and clean it out and/or replace the pump. A pump can run electrically, but not pump.
I found this diagram in a thread compliments of the esteemed Lizzurd 06 CR-V windshield washer issues You should be able to pull the line off either of the pumps #3 or #4 when they are working or feel a pulse and check flow there.

Thanks Fixer for your reply. No, not in Tuktoyaktuk, in Boston, but it is nice today (won't be tonight). I will try your recommendation. Thanks again!

Was the vehicle exposed to below freezing temps since last week? If so, and it didn't have the winter WWfluid, then it may have frozen and the crv will need to be stored in a warm area, overnight.
    Fixer's advice is very good.
Some vehicles have a pump for the front and another pump for the rear. Does the rear one work?

No, the rear doesn't work either. I don't remember it being very cold. In fact, Christmas Eve was quite warm here. Today is the coldest day we've had in a while. It's in the 30'.

    Thanks for responding!

OK, just tried the windshield fluid again and it works. I was parked in the sun for a few hours. It must have been frozen! thanks everyone!

Well, buy some winter fluid and empty out your washer bottle (you can either suck it out or just keep using the washers until they run dry and then put in the winter stuff and keep squirting until you believe the new fluid is in all the lines, esp the rear one.
