    Gauge Cluster....

New member....... I recently purchased a 2004 CRV with low mileage and in excellent shape.
Before purchasing, I test drove it twice, saw all the service records and tested all accessories.
I drove it home, parked it, went out to start it the next day and all the gauges in the cluster now don't work.

Light in odometer, (no readout), radio light both go out when I turn on the park/headlights.
Also the Park, Reverse and Neutral light work but go out when the park/headlights are on. No lights for Drive, 2nd, or 1st.
Also no sound indicators. (Key in ignition, lights on etc.)
All of the Pre-start indicator lights come on when the ignition is turned on and go out as they should.
All of the lights, accessories etc. still work. Engine, trans, all good.
My apologies if this topic has been covered but as I said I am new here.
    Any thoughts??
    Thanks, Iver.

I tried the dimmer switch but no luck. The gauges, (tach, speedo, fuel, temp) still do not function.
    Thanks, Iver.

    Update...
Just had a diagnostic done. No codes showing. No indication on what is causing the problem.
Anyone suggest what to check next??
    Thanks, Iver

Do Honda dealers have equipment to diagnose problems that are related to Honda only?
Or do professional code readers show the same things?
    Thanks, Iver.

It may be a blown fuse? Check your manual and verify if there is any fuse that controls gauges or interior lights.

Sounds like the DIM setting of your vehicle is not working among other things. When you turn your light ON, the interior lights would normally switch to a dimmer setting, but you say they just turn OFF altogether.

Still, I would start with Fuses.

Actually I removed every fuse that I could, especially one which said "meter", then tested each fuse separately but still no luck.
I'm beginning to think it may be the circuit board in the instrument cluster.
    Thanks, Iver.

Sounds like a ground issue under the dash or the body ground.

    Update:
I switched out the instrument cluster with another used one and now everything works.
I am assuming that the circuit board in my unit failed. I will probably get it repaired and keep it as a spare.
    Thanks, Iver.
