Hello, everyone. As you can tell from the title, I have a 1997 CR-V. I have had the car for a little over a year now and not had any problems until a couple of months ago when I started noticing some shaking, vibrations, and strange clunking noises. I feel the shaking in the wheel. It is especially noticeable when I am going between 25 and 35 or over 70 MPH. I took it to multiple shops and they all said the tie rods and the struts were bad.
Well, I replaced the tie rods and the front struts but the problem is still there, albeit somewhat alleviated. I have talked to people and they have told me it could be anything from worn engine mounts to spark plugs to the tires. I am not very good with cars but I know the engine mounts were replaced at around 185,000 miles by the previous owner, it is currently at 215,000. That shouldn't need to be replaced already, right?
I don't know if there is anything to the spark plug theory but I do know the engine started sounding slightly more clunky, I guess that is the best word for it, about the same time as I started noticing the shakes. I have two relatively new tires on the front, less than 4000 miles each, and the back ones are pretty decent as well, probably around 15-20k each. I also had an oil change fairly recently, like 1500 miles back I think.
Any suggestions for what could be causing the problems would be greatly appreciated. Even if it turns out that isn't the problem it would be helpful to eliminate possible culprits. If you need more information from me please ask. Like I said, I am no expert but I can answer questions.
