scraping noise at low idle coming from front right area on 2nd Gen CRV

    Hello All,
Yesterday I started to hear a scraping noise (only at rpms under 1k) coming from the front right area of the vehicle. I popped the hood but didn't crawl under the car yet (snow and slush on the ground here).

I'm wondering if this could be something bumped against the fan shroud or if the AC compressor starts to make noises like this when it goes? Some other bits of info:
    - It is a manual and the noise does not seem to be related to the drive train (makes the noise when the car is in neutral with the clutch pedal released or depressed).
    - If I turn the steering wheel the noise does not change
    - If I turn on the AC or turn off the noise does not change.
    - It does not make the noise when RPMs are above 1k.

    Thanks!

Could be a belt, ice buildup, etc.
When you are talking about the 'right' side, are you talking about right when you are standing in front of the CRV and looking at it or while sitting in it and looking forward.?
What year CRV is it and is it driven from the left (USA) side or the right (English) side.

I feel pretty dumb about this. I checked from the top and thought the noise was going to be belt related (front right side-passenger side-US vehicle), but the noise was coming from under the engine. It ended up being a very loose Catalytic Converter Shield. I have temporarily used wire to secure it to the cat converter, and will secure it a bit better this weekend. Glad it was a cheap and easy fix!!

Thanks for reporting back with the solution. Happy to hear that it was nothing major. I believe there are several threads dealing with a loose cat shield that may give you some advice.
