Exclamation Recalls: 2002-2004 CR-Vs for Fire Risk

    http://editorial.autos.msn.com/blogs...b-8bb01b2c08e7

Honda is recalling 268,655 CR-Vs for faulty driver's side power-window switches that could catch fire if they get wet, according to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This is the automaker's third recall this month.

NHTSA had been investigating the CR-V for possible switch fires since November 2010, when it received complaints from three owners of 2006 models. Honda had denied on at least two separate occasions that the switches were responsible for the blazes. Then in July and August, the switches in two more CR-Vs caught fire, including a 2004 CR-V.

Starting in November, Honda will replace any damaged parts and install a cover to block liquids from entering the switch housing. Only vehicles from the 2002 to 2006 model years are affected. Concerned owners can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.

Don't exactly know what was involved but it took less than 30 minutes.

    Drivers side window

I have an 2002 CRV with all the symptoms stated in the recall. The window suddenly quit working. (after going to a drive through car wash).Control switch for the drivers side window felt worm to the touch.
The first thing I did was remove the fuse for that window. Then I called Dealer and was told my VIN number was not one listed for recall. My problem other than the window will not work is that I am on a very limited budget. The $100+ dollars for the diagnostic check is not affordable for me no less having repairs done by dealer.
Is there a resource I can go to to get "better information" on CRVs that need to be repaired under the recall.
    HELP!!

all it is is 2 seals that go around the window switch to stop any water getting to the switch lucky for me i have worked at a Honda dealership for years so only take 20 min to do the job.
