Body side molding installation messed up

So I messed up the install...On the passenger side instead of applying the left side molding on the left door i applied the right side molding instead
Took it immediately to service they said nothing can be done...if its taken out the molding becomes unusable..and these are not sold individually and i have to buy the complete set...any pointers???? One option is to install it the same way on the right side also and forget about it...

Take a pic from a bit further out--so we can see the whole effect........Prob doesnt look that bad!! And most would not even know!! And it may even be to ur advantage--looking how it slopes DOWN at the rear--Just did some quick math and I came up with 112 extra Horse power and a savings of 5% on gas MPG, due to that downslope in the molding!! Nice job!!

Peel it off and remove any double sided adhesive from both the door and the molding. Lighter fluid (naphtha) may be of some help. Apply new 3M double sided adhesive tape and trim the tape to the proper size. Attach the molding as per the instructions.

thanks a lot for the tip the 3m strip is available in autozone as well....however i have 2 concerns:
    a. how to remove the molding, its not easy to just pull it off...perhaps hair dryer to help loosen the glue on the 3M to help it come off?
    b. with the 3m strip the side curvature cannot be obtained....

I think this is what you want. Most body shops use it for exactly what you're talking about:

It looks fine, leave it alone. In my experience, trying to fix a mistake usually grows into an even bigger mistake.

Yeah, it's really not that bad. To most people they won't even know it's a mistake.

However, if you do want to change it I'd recommend buying a new molding set, remove and discard the improperly installed rear molding, then apply new rear moldings and save the fronts for future use (when your front moldings get damaged or nicked, which will eventually happen). You'll probably still pay less for two kits then you would have to have it installed by a dealer, plus you'll be up 2 fronts.

Next time let the dealer handle it and save yourself the stress headache.

You can remove the molding easily. Use dental floss to get under (or through) the 3M tape. Just pull it back and forth as if it was a wire saw. Replace the floss when it gets gunked up. After the molding is off, use light fluid (proper ventilation required) to soften the adhesive, wipe with clean shop towels.
For the curvature, apply the tape and let it overhang the molding on the curve, trim the tape with a new razor knife to the proper shape.
