    6 speed manual oil change

    Hi All,
I have a 6 speed manual CR-V and would like to change the gearbox oil. Can anyone tell me the location of the Filler / Level plug?

    Thanks

    Shaun

I dont have a manual trans in my CRV, but do in my daily driver Mazda MX6. I changed the oil in that 13 years ago with high end synthetic (Redline). The mechanic I had change it said it was the last change the car would ever need because what came out was fine (75K miles old). Because the gearbox is closed, unlike an engine whch gets gas and air and combustion contaminants all the time, the oil doesnt really get abused like motor oil. My car still shifts smooth and effortlessly even with 170K, 60 mile commutes, and I dont baby it at all. I may be going on 58 but still act like 3 or 4 decades younger, and my driving style reflects this. Ask my wife. She commutes with me every day, poor woman.

Changing the MTF is similar to the rear differential, you have a fill plug and a drain plug. It's not like some cars where you have to drop the entire pan, which is a major hassle. See below; only replace with Honda MTF fluid.
