07 CRV EX - Xmission filter , when removing, did a lot of oil splash out?

    Hello all,

I'm getting ready to change the xmission filter for my 07 CRV EX. I have a question for those that have done this themselves. When the hose is removed from filter, did a lot of fluid "splash" or pour out? if so, was it messy? I plan to do this at my dad's house since he has all the tools and the last thing I want to do is get his clean garage all messed up. Thanks in advanced.

I don't have an '07, so I'm not sure about what it is you're going to do. I bought a large plastic pan at the home improvement store designed for mixing a small batch of concrete. It is about 3ft x 2ft x 8in high. This pan worked great for me when dropping the transmission pan on a car I owned in the past.

Thanks genep, the xmission filter for the 07 model is external (near the front, not exactly sure where) It is an inline filter connected to rubber hoses. I think I'll have to remove some parts of the front grill/bumper to access it. I know I saw a post that describes this better, I'll have to look for it here. I'm wondering how much fluid will come out of those hoses so I can prepare what I need and also if the fluids gushed out or poured slowly out. Hoping someone that replaced it can tell me....

I realize that this may not be the answer you're looking for but I just did the drain and re-fill. I replaced it with 3 qts DW-1. The inline filter you are talking about should not have much fluid pour out if any, especially if you drain fluid first. I've got 65k on my V and have no plan on changing the inline filter anytime soon.

Well, I found out after draining the ATF fluid, then removing the ATF filter, some fluid did come out but didn't "gush" out or anything. Quite easy to do replacing the ATF filter. For removal of splash guard, it took less than 5 minutes, 2 bolts and 7 clips holding the splash guard.
