2003 Crv Lx Fuel Tank Size

Can anyone tell me what size this vehicle has. All i can find is 15.3 which is not correct for this CRV. I think its an 11 gallon tank but was looking for some confirmation on this.

North American spec CRV's show a 15.3 gallon tank. What makes you think that is only 11 gallons?

On my Element the guage shows empty when i still have 3-4 gallons left in the tank. I have heard some CRV owners comment about the same thing.

It only takes 11 gallons & only will go 300 miles on a tank. I would be happy if it was 15 but its not. I think the local gas station is ripping me off. This thing has never taken over 11. some gallons & they charged my wife for almost 13 yesterday. I've had this since it was new & it has never taken that much. I don't have the owners manual handy. I'll check it tonight. I just thought someone might know.

Most second generation Vs will go 250 - 300 miles on a tank, from full, until the Low Fuel warning light illuminates. Then they take 11 - 12 gallons to refill.

If you were run it down to empty (not recommended on a regular basis) the capacity is indeed 15.3 US gallons.

(If you are using Imperial gallons, YMMV!)

The book does say 15.3 so it must be right. I can't believe that. I've run it pretty low before but it has never taken that much gas.

If you are comfy "learning" the car's gauge, you can run it a couple more gallons without worry. Just remember, the fuel pump needs gas surrounding it to keep it cool.

I'd try to refill when it takes no more than 14 gallons. You need at least a 30 mile "cushion" IMO.
