    Timing Chain?

I have a 2008 EX-L Cr-v and want to know if it has a timing belt or chain?
I also have a 2001 Accord which just had it's timing belt replaced (90,000 miles) and was expensive.
Any ideas on life length/recommended replacement for the Cr-v belt?

    thanks

You CRV has a timing chain. There isn't an interval to have it changed at to worry about.

    Chains

Others can tell you exactly when but CR-V have used chains for several years now. It is maintenance free for the life of the vehicle. It is one of the reasons I bought a CR-V.

So there is no regular replacement miles like a timing belt, correct?
So how do you know if it is going to 'break' like a timing belt (no warning)?

    thanks

    Ok sounds good
I'm new to this maintenance minder system, my 2001 Accord has oil changes every 3,000 miles per dealer instructions, is the CR-v different/longer duration between changes?

    thanks

Most of us who are following the maintenance minder are getting 7,500 - 10,000 miles before the first oil change.

Is this the very first oil change or after the "break in" oil at about 4,000 miles?
    Or am I miss informed?

There is no "break in" oil change for a 2008 CR-V. The very first oil change typically comes at 7,500 miles or more if you wait for the maintenance minder.

Ok, thanks. I have Honda OwnerLink, do you know if the dealer goes by that (7,500) or do they try to get me to do an oil change earlier?
(I know you may not have this)

Another reason I asked was because it was the dealer that said it had "break in" oil and would need to come back at around 4,000 miles for an oil change.
