On our 2007 CR-V EX-L with 85,000 miles, the center portion of the instrument cluster that displays the fuel level, coolant temperature, outside air temperature and fuel MPG info began flickering and now has just about completely failed to display anything. In fact, when it started to flicker, other portions of the display began to appear that is not mentioned in our owner's manual, such as "No Key", "Battery", and showing icons for turn signals at each corner of the vehicle and icons of tires which might be somehow related to a TPMS display.
I've done a google search looking for a new stock Meter Assembly and found that part from several Honda parts dealers which can be purchased for just over $310.00.
My question is:
Is all of the information that displays on this center panel stored entirely within the vehicle's computer? If yes, it could then be a relatively easy task of removing the defective assembly and replacing it with a new one. However, if the odometer readout is stored within the display, it would need to be extracted and transferred to the new assembly. Would someone knowledgeable of this assembly please advise? I'd surely appreciate it.
Also any advise that one can provide on how to deal with this failure with a service department, please let me know.
Gary
