Winter-blend gas, cold temperatures, brand-new car...recipe for poor mileage. I remember going through the same thing when I bought my 2007 in December 2007. I was concerned, but by spring I had some miles on it and the weather improved and gas went to summer-blend and I was getting excellent mileage.

Hey guys/gals. As you can see - 1st post. 2013 EX-L 1st tank in town, eco 24/7 w/ 122 mi. = 21.9. I've also had since new a 97 which gets 21 in town since new, 27-28 on road trips. Wife 86'd me outta of the EX-L so's it's just me & the 97. Only had to replace the radiator & 1 frt strut in 85k mi. A good enough reason for me to get the 2013.

It took a while for the engine to break in to get better mileage from our CRV . One difference I made was starting off slower, not the jack-rabbit starts that I used to , just because I was trying to keep up with others taking off from the start like they were racing in the Daytona 500. I found out that our gas mileage increased by 3-4 miles/gallon , and, I have a lot more peace of mind while driving.

I purchased my CR-V EX-L AWD three weeks ago. I do mostly city driving with an occasional highway trip. I have approximately 450 miles and I'm averaging 21 MPG. I haven't used the Econ button yet, but will be interested to see if my mileage improves. I use Mobil gas since it's always been the best performer for me. As I put more miles on my car, I expect the MPG to improve.

I am a Real Estate appraiser and drive alot of neighborhoods (stop and go). Am am averaging 22 mpg so far. I am hoping it will get better when the motor breaks in. I have about 2k miles on it.

I have close to 2k on mine and I seem to slowly be getting better mileage. I appear to be averaging about 25k with a mixed drive of highway and city to work. I've had it out on the highway alone for a trip and got 30 mpg during its first thousand miles and that was in cold snowy weather. I'm guessing it will improve.

    Exclamation

if your coming from a car to a SUV, don't expect as good mileage!

If your coming from a pickup truck to a CRV, you would be thrilled!

But ya, after the break in period, it will improve!

I just purchased a brand new 2013 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD about 2 weeks ago or so. I got about 477 miles on it. When I purchased it it have 11 miles on it and a full tank of gas. I filled it up once since and I have about a 1/4 of a tank left. I am only getting about 20 -22 MPG according to the in dash display center. The highest I have seen it say is just under 22MPG. I always use the econ button. Most of my driving is on the highway or on roads with small hills with speed limits of 45 - 55. I do not drive fast and everyone always says I drive slow. I realize the car is AWD however I feel like I should be getting at least 25MPG or better. What do you guys think?

    Thanks,
    Rocky
Try different gas stations as others suggested... manually calculate MPG not base on readout.

Try with ECON OFF... we kept on for first 700 miles or so and then have kept off... MPG same or bit better and better [although not much] power. Do get the revs up to 4/5k once in a while.

Have tried different tire pressures as well [ours is recommended for 32 psi and we've tried from about 28 to 34 with no significant diff in MPG]

Your right foot has the biggest effect on gas mileage, but if this is your first AWD vehicle, don't expect anything better than the low 20's most of the time.

I have to admit, I'm not getting super mileage. I figured I'd get high 20's (combined). I'm not a lead-footed driver, don't tailgate, blah blah. Always seeing green, lol. My commute is 80% highway.

Per Fuelly, my lifetime average is 23.8. I've got a little over 7k miles on the car.

What's weird is it's worse in ECON mode.

All but maybe two of my fill-ups has been Mobil or Shell. I think it's that darn E10....
