2013 EX-L AWD Gas mileage seams low.

    Hi guys,

I just purchased a brand new 2013 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD about 2 weeks ago or so. I got about 477 miles on it. When I purchased it it have 11 miles on it and a full tank of gas. I filled it up once since and I have about a 1/4 of a tank left. I am only getting about 20 -22 MPG according to the in dash display center. The highest I have seen it say is just under 22MPG. I always use the econ button. Most of my driving is on the highway or on roads with small hills with speed limits of 45 - 55. I do not drive fast and everyone always says I drive slow. I realize the car is AWD however I feel like I should be getting at least 25MPG or better. What do you guys think?

    Thanks,
    Rocky

    I concur.

Try buying a couple of tanks of top-tier fuel. I use Shell since my personal testing found it to give me better consistent MPG than the other two brands readily available in my area. I also have the Eco engaged 24/7 (hasn't been off since purchasing the CR-V last summer).

And like any new vehicle, once the parts get to know each
other the MPG will go up. Your still at the Hello stage.

I agree with Scout1. Check mileage again at 2 - 3K. Fill up at your favorite gas store and remember the pump number you used. Set the dispenser handle to the first click. Let the pump shut off automatically. When you need gas again go to the same place and use the same pump with the dispenser at the first click and use auto shut off. You want the two fill ups to be done with the same conditions. Then do the math. That is your real mileage, don't trust dash display.

I live in a small town. I found only one gas station in our area that is considered top tier. Which is a Shell station. I am going to try to fill up today at the Shell station and see how things go from there. I also heard the same thing about the vehicle needing time to break in and all that. That the car is still brand new and the parts need time to break in a little. I will check back if things don't improve for more tips. Thanks for your help guys.

Purchased a new CR-V last April the Info sticker on the cars window showed 9.4 City and 7.4 hyway if memory serves.
Was told to improve the poor fuel consumption, wait untill its run in,I now have 14600.km on the car, went on a 320km hyway
trip at 100k to 110k to see if I could get close to the stated km per 100kl. Got 9.2 to 10.6 per the dash read out/on the return trip at trafic speed of 120 the car now used 11.6 to 14.4, Toyota is sending $500.00 to purchasers for statingthe same kind
of info that we get from Honda.Maybe Honda And Toyota do not test cars in cold weather,Pity

Bought my 2012 EX-L in February and been getting consistent 26-29 mph combined since. Recent 2000+ mile trip from Denver to LA was close to 30 mph. Regular fuel, econ on.

I'm having this problem too. My 2012 CRV EX AWD is only getting 10.3 L/100km or 22.6 MPG it has 3000 km on it and I drive 60 km a day city with eco on. Whats going on why am I getting such crap mileage? Weather is cold and some snow with alot of rain.

    thats not bad

You are getting just over 22mpg in all city driving in winter? That is fine...don't expect that to improve, that is what you should be getting. I'd be happy with that. I drive all city, and it is cold (around 10 degrees F) and I'm getting about 20.2, 20.4.

I've got about the same mileage on a new 2013 CR-V EX-L AWD purchased about the same time. It's been all in town driving and the best I've had so far is 17.6 (according to the display). Econ button always on and we're having unseasonably cold weather of lows around 27 degrees F. I'll be patient but I'm ready for the better milage I expect!
