View Full Version : Anyone doing any fishing?
Just wondering if anyone on the board does any fishing and if so freshwater or saltwater?
I'm into freshwater fishing. I fish mostly for bass, but sometimes I'll catch some catfish for dinner.
I just recently started fishing so I'm still new to the sport, but I love it.
Here's a 3 1/2 pound bass I caught a few days ago.

I love to fish! Isn't that why we have Curt hitches? It's for the boats! :)

Every weekend I can get to my camp in Cocodrie. Saltwater coastal fishing is my passion. Have fished in the inside bays at Galveston with friends, did well there.
Towing? Hey 2RedVs, how much can we tow? My little Bateau is a 14' flat with a 9.9 motor. Got to be ok to pull??

I love to fish. Mostly fly fish for bass. But I have not been able to get out to go fishing so I carved my own.

I can't wait until spring when the bass start to spawn! Why wait for Spring? The crappie and bluegill bite are easy catching in the winter, if you ice fish. :) I went out the other day with one of the kids and we didn't bother to use bait! Cut the hole in the ice, dropped a bare hook and pulled out fish. Caught about 75 bluegill and crappie in 45 minutes. Didn't even have time to get cold. (it was 15 degrees F out) Was a lot of fun.
Of course, being in Houston, you won't have ice - go deep sea fishing in the gulf. Red snapper and grouper is excellent eatin'.

That has GOT to cold!!! Did the ice fishing in Minnesota with some friends several years ago. The lake was like the scene from Grumpy Old Men. Lots of fish though, just throw them out the cabin, they were frozen hard like cord wood.
Come to Cocodrie, we'll show the coastal fishing at it's best. Nothing better than winter reds (red drum) for a fight and good eatin'.

I haven't really done any salt water fishing. Man, I would love to ice fish! Sounds like a lot of fun. I'll have to try and get out to galveston some time soon!
I would love to go fishing for blue gill or crappie, but I haven't had much time do anything, but go to work and then school, so :(
Soon though!!
I've been called a crappie angler.................................I say "Thank you!"

That is a good lookin' crappie, white perch...........down here we call 'em Sacalait (sock-a-lay)
Fished out of Cocodrie in Terrebonne Bay last Friday and saturday.....cold front blew through Friday nite and took a lot of water with it on the falling tide, conditions for the inside bays was off-color due to the wed/thurs storms along the coast....had 80mph wind recorded and 6" rainfall Thursday late and into the nite.
Fishing picks up as the season change comes in and late March and April really nice. Better than the 106F temps we had last August.
Right now crawfish are coming in!!!!!! :)
