I saw the blue dots as well on EX alloys. I figured it to be wheel balance, but really don't know.

When I looked at them on my EX wheels, the dots were always close to where the wheel weights were, so I assumed they were a result of the balancing process. Just wiped the dots off.

Thank you for not "giving" me the answer, but posting that awesome tire/wheel site instead. That is a keeper. :)

Interesting, but it only talks about dots on the tire ... not the wheel. Any marks on the wheel are stamped, because they need to be permanent. So, what is the (temporary) blue mark on the wheel?

I think the wheels are spun to find the heavy spot. Then the tires are spun separately, then matched up to the wheel so that they don't need a huge amount of weights attached to the rim............
