Has anyone bought a warranty through this site???

http://www.myhondawarranty.comThere are a number of real, Honda dealers, who offer the genuine Honda Care Warranty at a substantial discount. This is one of the big name ones. Maybe your local dealer will match the price? Give them a chance.

One caveat.

If you live in Florida, it is illegal to buy an extended warranty from other than your local dealership that sold you the car. You may notice that all of the on-line dealers that sell Honda Care at a discount will not sell it to you if you live in Florida.

I'm driving myself crazy deciding if I should get the extended warranty.
Talk about being on the fence:confused:

This is my first new car. I am a widowed 48 year old female. I really don't do that much driving (1800 miles in 3 months). But I will have car payments for 5 years. And I plan on keeping the car for a LONG time.

But it's a Honda . . . good reviews and reliability records.
Take a chance or not?

Take a chance or not? :confused:Tough call. If you rely upon the dealer or an independent shop for maintenance and repairs, you may want the warranty. If you intend on keeping it a long time, maybe that 8 year special would be good for you even though you wouldn't run out on mileage in 8 years.
If you sell the car before the warranty is up, you get a pro-rated portion back, OR you can let the new owner have the remainder if they pay a transfer fee. That way, you could sell your car at the 7 year mark and ask more for it as the new owner could get a year's warranty with it.

I bought the 8 year 120K extended warranty on the Internet for half the price that my dealer wanted for it. But is that really a wise thing to do? I doubt it. For me it was peace of mind, but its kind of an expensive peace of mind.

I would not advise buying one of the shorter term warranties. I think there is one that gives you bumper to bumper for 5 years. An extended warranty should cover big items for long time. Having a headlight bulb changed on a bumper to bumper warranty for 5 years just is not cost effective. Then again none of us have a cystal ball.

I would also advise against buying a non-Honda warranty. These things are usually flyby nights and if you do have a claim before they fly, you better have a lawyer.

By a "LONG time", I assume that you intend to keep the car at least 8 years. Should you get the extended warranty? I don't know. I am not convinced that it is a wise use of your money, yes I got one and I am sure it was not a wise use of my money. It was simply a way to reduce the gray hair factor and I can't say that I regrett getting it. However, I might be a little more equipped with money than you are.

There is no clear answer is there? But think of this. Your warranty is going to run out at 8 years. Honda is betting that you will never use the warranty. That is a preety good bet. The money you spend on the warranty is not available for a repair at 10 years, if you keep it that long or a down payment on the next vehicle.

As an alternative, you could take the money that you are going to spend on the warranty and invest it. Let it grow. If nothing happens in 8 years, you made it out like a bandit, you still have your money. If something does happen, then you are only paying the difference between what the repair costs and the price of the warranty. Now if lot of things happen then you will probably pack a pistol and come looking for me. As such I am not saying that is what you should do, but it is an alternative.

What should do? Excellent question! Hondas are reliable. But there is an awful lot of clap trap to go bad. In the end only you can decide. My experience was that I worried until I bought it, and I haven't thought much about it since. But is it really a wise use of your money? I sincerely doubt it. But again only you can decide that. Good luck with that decision.

I am planning to get a CR_V in a few weeks. I was thinking about an extended warranty also. I looked at the 120,000 Mile, 8 Year because I keep cars for about ten years and I average about 15000 miles a year. And if I can by an extended warranty one for $1000 that is good insurance for just a little over a $100 a year. I called Honda Extended warranty program (310) 783 -3240) they told me that the warranties was a retail item and can be sold by a dealership for what ever price they want to sell it for. They said that there were Honda dealers selling them on the net at good prices. To make sure that it was a Honda Care program from a Honda dealer. If I wanted the (Honda care) to make sure it was not another kind of program being sold by a Honda dealer. I am going to take the prices I got off the net to my local dealer and give them a chance to match the inter net price. I do not know if this helps any one. I felt better knowing Honda confirmed there were deals for their programs on the net.
