Please go easy on me 2RedV's

What could I reasonably expect to pay (parts and labor) for the following service items?

Valve inspection and adjustment
Timing belt and water pump replacement
Drive belts replacement
Fuel filter replacement
Break fluid replacement

I am trying to sanity check the estimate I would get from a local shop who specializes in foreign cars and has expertise in Honda vehicles.

Thanks, Upton-CRV

I doubt you need the fuel filter, but it is cheap and easy to replace, all the same.

Remember to ask for the valve adjustment since they will already have the valve cover off. ASK for the before and after measurements.

Thanks 2RedVs.

I spoke with the owner / lead mechanic this morning. He specializes in Japanese and European cars. His estimate for all of these items was $600-$650 using Honda parts
Valve inspection and adjustment
Timing belt and water pump replacement
Drive belts replacement
Fuel filter replacement
Break fluid replacement

He likes the Honda drive belts over even the highest end alternatives because they tend not stretch and cause squealing. He also only uses only Honda timing belts.

He also suggested replacing the fuel filter without me asking about it.

He said there was labor savings doing the valve adjustment, timing belt replacement, water pump replacement, drive belt replacement at the same time given the overlap in parts that need to be removed for each item.

I also got a quick history of Honda engine valve adjustments that synced completely with what I have read over the past few days.

After I have the work done I'll post the valve measurements for both of the CR-Vs in the family. Pictures of our Vs can be found at this URL.

Thanks again for the sanity check. I also plan to research the cost of the major parts for these maintenance items via several part web sites. It may be of value to one of the other members.
