View Full Version : Sun Visor too short

Hi,
Why didn't Honda make the sun visor extendable, either by sliding like the Accord's or an extra extension piece in a sliding pocket?
As is there is a 4 inch gap from the rear of the front window to the edge of the sun visor that lets sun in from the side of the vehicle.
Terrible.
Anyone have a suggestion to overcome this deficiency?

I noted the same thing today. I just pict up my V Sat. 78 Miles. I saw some clip ons a Pep Boys not long ago. They were for a full size car. They may work. I am going there in the morning. I will post it If I find any thing that works.

I looked at the clip on Visor at Pep Boys. It was to big. It was made for a larger car visor.

The visors are one of my biggest gripes - from 97 on to 2007. I have yet to look into it, but I suspect some other Honda model that has the extended visors should fit into the V just fine.

I agree!!! Heaven forbid you might be tall enough to scoot the seat back...suddenly there is a blinding light and lots of heat!!! Sure would be nice to have extentions for the visors...;)

Maybe we can get owners of other Honda vehicles to post dimension info on their visors with the sliding sun shade, overall length, length from pivot to securing clip, etc.
We might be able to come up with a suitable candidate for a swap.

I agree the visors are way to short...it's the one thing I miss from my blazer. I went to the dollar store and bought a visor CD holder and slid it into the strap thing on the driver side visor. I just slide it out the few inches and it works fine...although there is not the same strap on the passenger side so I am still looking for something for that side.

I can't believe there are others who feel the same way I do. I bought my CRV in November, with no sun. LOVE THE CRV. HATE THE VISORS.
I stopped by the dealer yesterday (my husband thinks I'm nuts). I explained my problem with the visors. They truly looked stumped. They claim NO ONE has ever come in and complained. I don't believe it. It is truly a design flaw. No question about it. I would not have bought this car had the sun been out when I test-drove it.
Now, I have to deal with it. There is an advertisement with Improvements for a Sun Glide. I was stunned to see that it the CR-V they use as the advertisement. That's how big of a problem it is - they used the CR-V to show their product !!
My daughter has a Honda Element, and it has sun visors with sliding shades that come out and fill in the gaps. They got it right in that car. How could they have got it so wrong in the CR-V???
The Element sun visors do not fit the CR-V. Anyone have a better solution?

I just got a brow strip that goes across the top of the windshield and tinted the driver sides and it made a huge difference in the heat and sun that comes in. :D

You might try something like this:
Amazon.com: Trillium Worldwide TWI-8001 Sun Zapper Innovative Glare Shield: Automotive (http://www.amazon.com/Trillium-Worldwide-TWI-8001-Zapper-Innovative/dp/B0007LXTMS)
I have one of those and rarely use it - it works, but ...
When looking through it you field of view id being divided into two distinctly separate areas - pretty weird and disctractive

We purchased one of the Visor Extenders from this site for the drivers side and while looks "clobby" it works just fine. My wife and I both find the visor too short to the side and this solves the problem.

Thanks for the tip on the visor extender. I will have to check it out. Welcome to the club and good luck with your new V!
