Hello. I've just bought a year 2000 CR-V for my wife to use to ferry around the kids and dog. The tyres (that's how we spell it over here) are OK, but will need replacing fairly soon. They are what I assume are the standard fit Bridgestone Duelers. The chances of the car ever going off-road are very remote and we don't get much snow where I live so is there any reason why I can't fit standard road tyres? I would imagine that they would be quieter and would give better on-road grip and handling. Or is it better to find a tyre that is biased towards the road but can handle a bit of mud or snow just in case? This is the first time I've had a car of this type so any advice will be gratefully received. Many thanks in advance.

Eh up mate.....
You can put any tyre you want on the car, as long as it fits....as you say if you aint never gonna go off-roading etc why have the facility.......and as you intimated..full knobbly off road tyres on tesco car park and the school run would be daft...
The Michelin Diamaris that i`ve got on mine are predominately a performance road tyre, fairly quiet seein as they`re 17`s, corner stability in the wet or dry is fantastic and high speed capability is very very very good.....they do have the capability of handling the minimal snow and ice we get here in the UK and also will do a fair job in a field or similar.....Ok yes..they are expensive but there`s only ever four bits of rubber on the road at any given time so it`d better be damn good rubber in my opinion......
If you go to Michelin.com they have a full breakdown of the tyres available and rate them accordingly with regard to summer/winter/mud and snow/ etc etc.......
BUT....them Duellers are plain awful.....give them a bit of a wet corner and they`re clambering for grip.......not very inspiring

As mentioned, ANY same or similar sized tire will do. If you have the real time all wheel drive make sure that you replace tires as a set of 4, not in 2's.
