Hi all,

We picked up our 2007 CR-V EX from the dealer last Saturday after waiting for three weeks to get our mitts on a black one. "Phoenix" is a replacement for a car that decided to spontaneously combust in the parking lot of our university. It seems that "Black Pearl" has been taken. :)

The information on the site has been helpful, thanks to everyone for passing along their experiences.

Nice looking V. Looks just like the Black Pearl. Sorry to have taken your name, but that happened way back in May. My wife loved our previous vehicle and did not want to part with it no matter what it cost. I was trying to ingratiate the idea of a new vehicle to replace her beloved Vincent Van Go. I had already decided on a Nighthawk Black Pearl V. We were leaving the latest Pirates of the Carribbean movie and it occurred to me call it the Black Pearl. I then bought a black pearl pendant and had it sitting in the upper glove compartment the first time she got in the Pearl. Didn't completely get me out of the dog house, but it helped. So you see I have a little history with the name and don't want to part with it.

Spontaneous combustion! One of my great childhood fears. My father subscribed to a magazine called "True" back in the 50s. There was an article about people bursting into flames and burning to death through spontaneous combustion inside their bodies. (Perhaps they ate oilly rags.) I knew this would be my fate. Well 5 decades later and I am still waiting to go up in smoke.

Welcome to the club and good luck with your V!

Yes, there are other owners down here. I found this site "googling" CRV info when we bought the car. Great site. Tell as many other owners as you can, put a note as suggested.
