Does anyone know the purpose of the bottom light under the backup light on the 2006 v. The owners manual only calls for 4 bulbs in the entire assembly which leaves 1 light at the bottom without a bulb.

Are you sure it has no bulb? The top panel on the 07 in the US has no bulb and no function. In a different thread discussing the 07, it was theorized that due to the fact the CRV is truly a world car that some countries may have a requirement for additional lighting.

Passing through and saw this, That light is called a rear fog, because our friends to the east have harsh weather, clear one minute and fog so thick you almost need a knife to cut through it, Many people have done the rear fog mod's, I did mine and looks great,
