UK vs US Sat Nav

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum having purchased a new 07 CR-V EX last week. I love the car and I'm glad I went for it.

I do have one question. Prior to picking up the car, I came across a PDF manual for the Sat Nav system - US version - and I noticed that they have a few items of functionality that my UK version does not seem to have. One such 'feature' is the ability to change the keyboard layout to a standard QWERTY-type layout instead of the annoying alphabetical layout by default. The US version also has the ability to enter keys using the voice commands such as 'alpha', 'bravo', 'charlie' etc.

My question is this: Do update DVD's of the sat nav system include an update to the software as well as the maps, where is this information posted and what can we expect in up coming versions?

MartinThe US version manual which is on-line has some "inaccuracies" to say the least. It was an early release and some of the features are not really there. Someone with an 07 Navi may be able to shed some light on this?

The US version does have all the features he mentioned. No clue on UK version.

I know that the current version of the UK sat-nav does not have the features in the US version. My question is - does anyone know if these features will ever be present in the UK version - i.e. does the DVD updates also update the software and not the maps? Do software updates of the satellite navigation system exist?

My old Garmin satnav had annual CD-based updates for the mapping data and firmware updates that you coud download from the net to update the software. I was wondering in the Honda built-in satnav is anything like this. Is it worth contact Alpine (who I believe are the original manufacturers)
