I am new to CR-V's... In fact still in the looking process but I hate the location of the automatic gear shifter on the Gen 2 models, I would look for a maunal but so far there are only about 3 in the area and I do not like the color of 2 and one has to many miles for the price.
My question, if I were to find an automatic does anyone know of a mod to move the automatic gear shift down where the manual one would be? Like if i were to get the dash pieces and a gear shift from a different vehicle (what would work?) has anyone done this? can I see pictures if you have? I have been looking for the perfect used 2005 or 2006 CR-V for about a year now and seem to keep striking out with the manual transmission...
Help help help :p

Help help help :pI wouldn't mess with that honestly it probably would cost more than paying a premium price for a manual just keep on looking resale values on manuals tend to generally be not that great wait and get a manual don't cause a disaster for yourself

I am suprised with the lack of activity on this forum! I come from a history of VW forums as well as Nissan forums that were very active. Also with a lot of mod type info!
I did end up finding a manual, just not in a color I loved but figured color is not as important as finding the overall car I wanted!
I hope to find more info and support in the future as I question my first Honda!

I sincerely doubt that anyone has moved the shifter location. It just isn't worth it and I have rarely heard any complaints about the location. It doesn't get in the way of driving.

2Red- I have been looking at this forum for a couple months, its just not as active as I am used to for instance www.vwvortex.com has multiple times the posts of this site. Not that its bad, apparently Honda owners either do not do mod's to their cars or they dont post on this forum thats all.
Again I do appreciate the comments, I will keep looking here for further questions I might have as long as I drive a CR-V :D

I don't like the location of the shifter either. Really hated it at first. But got used to it eventually. :)

I like center mounted shifters but only if they are truly between the seats not like on the new V. The only advantage of center mounting to me at least is manual mode I hate flappy paddle gear shifting but I like reaching down to shift. The reason for less activity is the type of vehicle Honda makes they don't make cars for tuning and heavy mods (although ricers tend to disagree) honda's are the type of cars you tend to leave alone I wouldn't throw flash rims and crazy lighting on a honda because it dosen't suit honda or Acura for that matter. Major japaneese cars don't love mods American SUV's are good for the big rim hip-hop style look and germans look good with some mods but I don't kow you buy a honda for reliability and practicality not to mod it out.

I wasn't too wild about the shift lever position when we first bought our 2006 CRV but it kinda grows on ya. I like it now. I do wish they had moved the wiper control lever though.
