View Full Version : How big is too big?
I just joined and this is my first post so be gentle. I searched but could not
find anything on this. I have Bridgestone Dueler REVO AT's on my F150 and
could not be happier and was looking at a set for my 01 AWD V. All I can
find is some 225/70-15 at tirerack that appear to have been discontinued
as I do not see them on Bridgestone's website, and the 225/75-15 that appear
to be their replacement. My question is this, for a stock V, does anyone have
any experience with this size? Will it cause rubbing or undue stress on my
drivetrain? I am only looking to Off-Road maybe 10% or less and then nothing
extreme. I just like the tire. If anyone has a suggestion for one similar that
may be a better fit I would very much appreciate any and all input.
I must say this is an awesome site!
P/S - I saw a brief posting on another forum but am somewhat concerned
with their experience with this size tire.

Don't know anything about your problem but welcome to the forum. Someone here will probably be to answer your question. Good luck with the hunt.

Welcome!
PM OSX2000. I believe he has a similar size tire. 225's may be too wide without a lift kit or slight mods to the inner fenderwells.

my 215's are close to rubbing, but i like being more safe then sorry... 225's would be risky in my opinion.

Really? The 215/70/15's on my '98 V aren't even close to rubbing. I know someone on Bing's site(HondaSUV.com - Honda Ridgeline, Fit, Acura RDX, Pilot, CR-V, HRV, Element - Information on ownership opinions, accessories reviews and forums (http://www.hondasuv.com)) ran 225/70/15's on his 1st gen V for awhile without any kind of alterations. He said he rarely had any trouble with rubbing. The improvement in curb appeal was dramatic.
I'm still debating if I should stick with 215/70's the next time or go a little bigger with the 225/70's.
