I have a question about the Honda roof rack and bike carriers for a 2007 CR-V. Do the bike carriers come on and off without having to take apart the roof rack? I am having a hard time resolving this question.

Thank you.

Good question. I can't seem to find that out either? I recently bought a hitch mount carrier (I have a Curt hitch on the 99) because hoisting kids bikes up in the air is a pain and if you slip... S C R A T C H the paint!

Thankfully with the new CRV all you have to do is pop off the end caps and the bick rack will slide right off.

Yes Lizzurd is right

You have to pop off the rack covers, unscrew the bike attachment and slide it off.

Replace the rubber molding over the roof rack, replace rack covers and done.

I just got the bike attachment, will post pics showing it soon

X2 on this one! I did exactly this to our previous minivan and cursed the day I ever bought a roof rack. Since buying the CRV I had a hitch installed and have been using the following rack with complete satisfaction. http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=22745&subcategory_ID=4411

Good luck!

I had an 00 crv and purchased a hitch and bike rack from the Drawtite company and absolutely love it. The back tire comes off, and it goes in the tire well in the inside. I use the roof rack for a big duffle bag when camping. It is all good!:) I just got the another crv, not new, but put the hitch back on, and can't wait to go.

I'll make that 3, used to have a bike carrier on the Element and switched to a hitch rack. Easier to use.
