Hi .. I ordered my crv luxury [my first!] 2 aug and STILL waiting for delivery. the dealer said that he would do a better deal if I place an order rather than take in shop stock. At the time it sounded like a good deal ... but is $4K worth this agony? i just want the car and it not due for another 3 weeks! I ordered a pearl sparkle grey without seeing it in real life so i hope i made the right dec. love it in black ... but i tend to be on the lazy side so thought it would look too dirty. my advice ... buy the car at the time and save the agony and anticipation.

What's the delay?
Did you order 2008 or 2007?
Are you saying you saved $4k, or what?
Do they have the car you want on their lot?
Have you looked at other dealers in the area to see if anyone else has your car? If so, tell your dealer either he does a swap at no charge, or you are cancelling your order and buying at the other dealer.
Note: your dealer is full of ****. He didn't have what you wanted, and didn't want to lose your deal to another dealer.
Stop waiting and start driving - the V's aren't that hard to find.;)

hint:fill out your location in your profile so we know what part of the world you are in.
I really like that color - especially when coupled with the diesel engine!
sounds like he's from down under. here we have the base, sports and luxury models which differs from the rest of the world with the ex and lx naming.
well jme, patients. :) if you are from australia, 3 weeks is not a long wait compare to other people. i heard of a 1.5 month waiting period for the cr-v.
I actually went to three dealers over a period of month .. I was in research mode. Not one of the dealers had a luxury in stock for me to even look at. we tested base or sports models - but didn't like the cloth in either - hence the luxury. i spoke to a fourth dealer the other day [he was advertising special deals on "all" hondas the radio ad said], so when I enquired about what he was offering for crv luxury, he said that they literally walk out the door so no specials on it [and i would have to wait end of sept to look at one]! yes I saved $4K because it was being ordered in. one dealer told me that a used luxury in stock would sell for more than one ordered in because the demand is so high [this is true as i tried to buy a used one, but the guy wouldn't budge from a price which on-road would have cost $1K less than what I ended up paying for my brand-new [and can't wait to take possession of] car. It's a funny market over here at the moment. oh .. i am female. hence the trepidation about the colour. A guy would have just selected the black in the first place and worried about the dirt later :-) It's actually a 2 month wait .. i must have just missed the last batch to come over. It is due last week in Sept. Hopefully all this anticipation will make the first drive all that much better :-)

when i bought my sports, the luxury was about a 3 weeks wait and i got mine in 2. (I'm in melbourne and that was in june). Plus the dealer told me, it also all depends on what colour you buy. some colours might take longer then the other. 4k saving is quite a good deal you got there. As for the colour, my wife told me as long as i'm doing the car washing and cleaning, she doesn't mind what colour i got (which was black).
anyway, good luck with your new V. I'm loving mine. Now trying to get the missus permission to put in the mugen bodykit :)
Ken - did you get a paint seal deal? I initially agreed because it made sense to protect the paint [bird poo damaged my husband's car] and i got sucked by the hardsell and guilt trip [about not protecting my new asset], but after searching the web, there isn't much support for paint sealing so I called the dealer back and cancelled. But really still in two minds. The dealer i am going through is charging $900 for paint protection, rust proofing, leather protection. but with the rust proofing you have to go back each year! otherwise i can get just paint protection for $400 from him. another honda dealer said he would do paint protection for $695, and a panel beater told me it was all a w**k but they could do it for $150 if i really wanted it. don't really know WHAT to do! my dealer said that once applied, it has a warranty for 4 years, there is no mention of reapplication within that time, and you don't have to polish, wax or apply any cleanser during the 4 year period. don't know what to do.
yes, i got the paint protection, rust proofing and fabric protection, tinted windows and reverse sensors for $1700+ as a package. Can't remember how much exactly it was but i made a mistake doing so coz you can get it done cheaper after you get the car and you can choose the brand of paint protection. I don't think the paint protection does make any difference in protecting the car but i got it done as a paint insurance just incase if a magpie decides to have a big dump on my V :D is also depends on what brand of paint protection you're getting. some can be really cheap but it's crap and some are really good. if you decide to get the paint protection done, go for one with a warranty so that if the paint discolour from bird/possum poo, then you will get your car repainted for free. As for washing the car, i actually got a bottle of car shampoo (from the guys who did the paint protection) which allegerly supplements the paint protection. the brand that i got was Ming.(http://www.mingshine.com). And due to water restrictions, i haven't wash my V personally but i have been going to a car wash.
As for rust proofing, don't know much about it but i don't think i have to go back each year for reapplication. but again, i don't think the cars these days will rust.
In the end, it's really up to you. For me i feel it's not so much of the product that got me sucked in but the warranty. :D

Rust proofing certainly is not needed on a modern car! As to the fabric protection, buy a spray can of ScotchGuard for $10 and do it yourself. Paint protection is no better than applying wax on a regular basis either.
I am still waiting for my car ... I think it lands in the country today. the dealer said it takes a few days to come out of customs and then they have to do their thing to spruce it up. BUT yesterday I passed a grey sparkle crv and it looks kinda good on the road *well i thought it looked damn good :-)* [am i the only person on earth that picks a colour for her car without seeing beforehand what it looks like in the flesh???].
btw .. when you ask for tint when ordering a new car .. is it a factory tint or is it something the dealer installs once the vehicle is in his possession? The tinting was part of the deal I negotiated. I don't know if the vehicles we test drove had tint applied or came out of the factory that way. do new cars come with some sort of tint anyway? in days of old, i recall seeing adverts for cars saying "factory tint" which seemed to have more value than after market tint.

mine tint is done by the dealers before i took delivery of the car. Even the accessories are all installed by the dealers. don't think there's a factory tint for honda.
Ken thanks. At least I know now what to expect. I think the car I ordered will look pretty cool - we drove beside one today. I still think the black looks more impressive - but oh well. its funny when i first saw the 2007 crv i thought it was sooooo ugly. bought one only because it has all the safety features [knee airbags would have been nice though - i think that could have won it 5 star euro safety - i don't think the american standards are as stringent on safety as europeans]. But the more i look at it the more i like it. others in its class seem a little plain in comparison. I really like the front detail now - it has a character about it - a bit like a bull dog not in a good mood :-)
hahahaha. you're welcome. Hopefully you'll get your V soon. Loved mine. just wish honda would have the on-board sat nav as an option in australia. currently it's in america only.
Yes - if only we could also get the american's variety of product and prices!! It is weird that nav not offered as options in this country [but then why didn't they include power driver seat controls in the ex-l in usa for 2007?]
I don't even need an AWD, would have been happy with a 2WD and save the petrol. I am only going to my mother's in it :-) and only twice a week :-) so I guess it was a bit of an extravagent purchase for the baby and the dog :-)
I am going to buy a portable nav unit for my husband for chrissie so we can use it in his car as well [and besides, the american's need to add another $2K for its inclusion in the car, here it would probaby be another $4K!!].
My brother's captiva (7 seater, V6, dvd) is the same price as my new CRV AND it includes a compass on the dash. I don't care about the 7 seats, the V6 and the DVD, but the compass - now THAT has got me jealous so a portable nav will hopefully keep my green eye monster at bay :-)
crv in australia is front wheel drive. it will only engage the back wheel when the front wheel slips, thus saving fuel.
I got my self a tomtom ONE sat nav to fill the void of the in car sat nav.And it's cheap and good. Plus it's portable. Only down side to that i have to get an extra mount for the dashboard as the mount for the windscreen will make the gps out of reach with the huge dash space and windscreen angle.
Captiva = daewoo being rebadge. Even with the V6 being australian made and the extras it's got. i'll stay far and away from it. Got bad experience with korean cars.
I don't know if i will EVER find out anything about my new car. I called the dealer today to check that the car arrived last wednesday. He said that they expected it to be in that delivery but it wasn't! They said it MIGHT arrive in the country later this month, or early next month! I complained but the dealer said it wasn't their fault, it depends on honda, and it depends on the colour [although we were told silver was hard to get and you had to wait for, but other colours are ok]. What can i do. Problem is that my baby is due in 6 weeks , and I don't think I will get a chance to practice driving the car before bubs arrives! the only upside is that i save $200 in interest every month they delay. I feel like telling them that i don't want it any more [i mean it will be over 2 months!], but then that will take me back to square 1.
Silver and black are the popular colours thus it being hard to get now coz the cr-v is seling like hot cakes. I can't advise you on how to get your car faster. some dealers will tell you that they can get the car earlier than they can just to get the sale.
as for practice driving, don't think there's anything to practice. drives like a car except that if you get an auto, the hand brake is actually a foot brake. visibility is good and if you have the reverse sensors installed, parking shouldn't be a problem.
also, if you cancel the order, you won't get your deposit back i believe. Maybe get the dealer to tell you a definitive date on when you car will arrive. I'm sure honda's ordering system is not that bad until they don't know when the car will arrive. some times if you pressure them, maybe just maybe a mysterious shipment of cr-v will just arrive and your car might be on that shipment and you'll get the car earlier than expected. :)
Thanks Ken. I am feeling a bit down about it. The baby has now less than 5 weeks to go, and I really wanted to bring it home in the new car [otherwise it has to come home in my current car, where the back seat is occupied by the dog and wanted something a little more special for the baby than a dog seat!].
The problem is that I keep reading reviews and forums on the CRV - I am a little obsessed by it to tell the truth. Reviewers [especially american ones] don't really rate it as much as say Rav 4 and other V6 vehicles [available in america]. Nearly all comment on its lacklustre performance. And so as i wait for mine to be delivered, I think maybe I should have gone for this vehicle or that vehicle [whatever the reviewer's favourite is at the time of reading]. I am being silly really, but hey I am pregnant.
I only really chose crv because it didn't bounce around as much as the escape, and because there are SQUILLIONS of crvs on the road. I figure ALL those people cannot be wrong!
The performance isn't as bad as they make it out to be, is it?
well, everyone has their own opinion. The review is just a guide for buyers. Before i got mine, i did read all the reviews but at the end of the day, it all comes down to how comfortable and happy you are with the vehicle. For me, it's the safety, space, economics and look that won me over. I was tossing between the mazda cx-7 and the cr-v but crv won hands down as the cx-7 uses premium fuel and it's boot space isn't enough for a 50kg labrador.
But as for as the reviews are concern, here in australia, it's been getting really good review all around. check out carsales.com.au and carsguide.com.au (http://www.drivetv.com.au/Editorial/ArticleDetail.aspx?ArticleID=36829&vf=15) This is a comparison review between all the compact suv. As for the performance, well, i would say it's adequete, unless you want a 10second 1/4 mile car or if you're driving a performance vehicle now. In comparison with other compact suv, there are not many that has better or equal performance to the crv. It will be a good car to drive and take your baby and dog in (you might want to consider the luggage area protector tray as i found it really helpful when cleaning the dog's hair and paw print in the boot).

One thing to remember about the CR-V in America, it is number 1 best selling SUV regardless of what the reviewers say. The RAV 4 gets higher reviews for a V6 that some reviewers say is over powered and a 3 rd row seating that only the legless can sit in. That is not to say that the RAV 4 is a bad car but there are some minuses at least for me. A big one is the tire on the door, the second was the front seat was uncomfortable. If you worry about looks, the front end is plain jane and the rear end is very plastic looking--highly stylized in such a manner that does not seem to match the front.
I can't say that I am overwhelmed with the CR-V's performance but the only place that I have noticed it lacking is getting on busy highways with insufficient accelleration ramps (a special treat for Pennsylvania--there is an apparent on-going concrete shortage that has lasted 70 years).
The car handles well and has great resale value. I have yet to read a review that recommended not buying a CRV. They usually always say that it is a very good choice despite the lesser rating.
I have only run into one person on this forum who is dissatisfied with their CR-V, (alas for him, his wife loves it). Everyone has their complaints about this and that, myself included, but still I think when you finally get your car, you are going to like it--especially with a new baby. The rear doors open very wide allowing easy access.
We are fortunate in the US there is a very good supply and most people can buy a car with virtually no wait. I commisserate with you for the wait, but after it comes I bet you will be very happy with the vehicle.
Hope it comes soon (the car not the baby) and the best of luck to you. Keep us posted on both fronts.
Thanks guys. I will just have to bear with the wait as it is too late to back out now. I will let you know how i go.
Finally got the call that the car is in the country last week. I guess the delay has saved me $600 on interest on the loan [haven't really lost anything as my current car is very drivable - it was just the excitement of finally getting a brand new car and then the delay!].
We live 10 mins from sea, so I wanted to have the paint protector - as we had had such a delay, the dealer agreed to provide this for $150 [my offer], rather than $400 [their offer, and another honda dealer said he would do it for $690!]. local auto places said they would do it for $120 - but I don't really know what the difference is between all these guys. it is probably all just a wax and polish :-) but with the salt in the air, the trees, the birds and the fruit bats I need to try something!
Anyway, will have car 2 weeks before baby is due - so i have time to fit baby seat etc AND to practice driving it before the big arrival :-)

congrats on that!! make sure you paint protection comes with a warranty. Good luck with your baby and car!!!
Picked up my new car yesterday :-) Well hubby did all of the driving but I sat on the passenger side :-) It's a little bigger than my mazda astina. But it does look nice :-) I am sure my baby will be more than happy to come home in its brand new car. I have only driven it for 5 mins [hubby did the rest of the driving], and am happy with it.
I know i have only had it a brief 2 mins, but I found that it accelerated without hesitation, it reached 100k/h without fuss, it could dart in and out with the best of them. the leather seats are comfy. there is plenty of leg room. there was a bit of road noise at times, but hey its a car not a lounge room! oh and i REALLY like the blue, red and green lights on the dashboard!
I ended up going with the paint sealer - forgot to get the warranty!! the funny thing is that the salesman was detailing the car for me as it was a sunday pick up and he said that after the 4 year warranty not to bother applying protection - all you had to do was polish it a couple of times a year :-) he also said not to bother with the extended warranty as the hondas are so reliable, even the ones made in thailand. They are soooo frank once you buy the car :-) but the two guys i dealt with seem to be nice people. When i explained that i was not from the area so servicing could be difficult, they said that they would give me a loan car free of charge. how good is that?!
just a couple of questions -
1. i find it hard to judge where the front ends - is there any secret to this or is it just a matter of getting used to the car? the dealer said that the one used crv he had for sale - the woman returned it because of this problem and she couldn't live with it - so she bought an accord instead.
2. where would one install a nat sav system other than having wiring and seat connected to the windscreen? the console doesn't leave any room for additions.

1. get your hubby to stand at the end of the front ends to give you an idea of where the front end is. once you have an idea, it's a matter of getting used to it.
2. pioneer got some really good sat nav. Just don't go to strathfield (i think thats' how it's spelled. i heard alot of unpleasent stories from customers). Best way is to get the american sat nav console for the cr-v. fits it to the dot. Just need to get maps for australia (whereis will be my choice). but it all comes down to $.

Been looking at the 3rd series for a year now and my wife finally decided she wants one; an '08 EX-L model. Does anyone know where they are or when they'll be in the USA? Every dealer we've been to gives us a different story.
One dealer says they're finalizing the power leather seats--it'll be a few more months.
Next one says all of the initial leather seat production is being allocated to the '08 Accord, no ETA info available.
Another dealer says they're on the boat on their way here.
Seems like they are going to be losing customers before too long if the product doesn't appear soon!
Anyone know the true story? Thanks!

isn't the cr-v for USA made somewhere in ohio? Don't think they are shipping the crv's from japan to the USA anymore. I think. If you read around the forum, you might get a better answer.

when the 07 crv was release in USA, it was from Japan but after the ohio plant starts pushing out crvs' they stop importing from Japan. Like i've said. Read around the forum. I got to know about this by reading it some where in this forum. :)

Worldwide, they are still built in England, Japan, USA and coming very soon, Mexico.
The 07's to the US were originally Japan only, the first USA ones went to Canada, now the USA is getting a mix of Japan and USA built ones because of the huge demand for the new V.

I JUST LOVE THE MOONROOF!! (it will probably never get opened in the sun :-) it is spring here, and at night there is still a tiny bit of a chill in the air - so it is just wonderful to look up at the stars as we cruise around [my husband is doing the driving! he doesn't get a chance to look straight up :-)))].
I have to say, I was a little annoyed with honda at the start. In australia, the top model is called "luxury" !!eek!! why couldn't they just stick with letters like around the rest of the world. And really it isn't luxury ... my brothers captiva has squillions of more features for the same price [dvd, a radio that tells you the name of the radio station, or the track, a cooler for drinks, V6, 7 seats etc, etc is it that honda is more expensive that holden??]. HOWEVER - he doesn't have a sun/moon roof and I didn't realise that I would use it, let alone love it so much!
Now ... to get to the main point of my post ... in my 2.5 month wait for my car, I must have read every review, and every forum post on the crv ... so many complaints about this and that ... that I worried if I had made the right choice. Having had a week in V, I love that: it really does take corners like a car, what acceleration problem?? my husband floored it and it reacted immediately, we weave in and out of traffic with ease, what's the big deal about the vanity mirrors not being illuminated [really what's the story here???? could it be an american thing?]?, YAY for the armrests [hubby thinks that this is as close as he is going to get to a winnibego?? experience], the sound quality is great [well i think it is fantastic but I am not an audio fanatic], there is some road noise on the bumpier roads but there is road noise from my husband's sports car and my old car ... l lurv the pump up lumbar support [if only it were available on the passenger side :-), the rear seats are a cinch to pull down [and it seems a lot easier to do it from the cabin area rather than the cargo area, so do some reviewers just complain for the sake of complaining about something?], and the electric seat adjuster is fun [i will give myself 2 more days before the novelty wears off].
I am pretty pleased with my purchase - and am looking forward to many years of joyful driving experiences!

I am pretty pleased with my purchase - and am looking forward to many years of joyful driving experiences!
i couldn't agree with you more!! i have absolutely no complaints on this car at all. Except when the back seats are folding up for more cargo room- if there is nothing to keep the seats up- when you accelerate they fall back into place with a loud thud. (on my jeep when you'd put the rear seats folded up they' stayed there).. BUT other than that- it was my only complaint...if you want to call it a complaint i'll just put them back down before i start driving!!
AND I LOVE MY MOON ROOF TOO it's still pretty warm and humid here in FL and I can't wait for their "winter" which is more like a NY spring to have that moon roof open more!!!
congrats on your new V and glad to hear that you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying mine!!

this is not true. there is a latch that you can latch your back seat on to. The belt to latch it is tuck away on the back of the back seat. you should be able to see it when you fold the seat down.
HOWEVER - he doesn't have a sun/moon roof and I didn't realise that I would use it, let alone love it so much!

that you guys dislike about the car. JME I said that I bet you would like the car not be ecstatic about it! There is simply too much joy in this thread! C'mon there has to be something you hate about the car. How about the huge door handles?
I am glad you both like your V's, good luck with them.

the door handles are huge but not enuff for me to dislike them that much! lol i love this car more so than any other car i've own! I think i might have liked to have the ex-l with some leather tho, but thats on my part not wanting to spend more money...

huge door handles? that ok. give's the passanger something else to hold when i'm going round the corners at lightning speed. :) hahahahahahaha
You know I absolutely hated the door handles when I took the first test drive and the second and the third ... I thought how cheap looking and ridiculous! But really, now that I own the car, and I am so happy to be zipping around in it, they just don't register with me. I got so caught up in the "oh it doesn't have this and why couldn't it have that" before I got possession, that I forgot about what was most important to me - and that was the quality of the ride. I took it for a run yesterday along a very bendy road - 20 mins of bends and curves! - and I am sooooo impressed with the handling when you are sitting that high up. Last week I got car sick on that same road in my husband's car - but yesterday it was like ... WOW! I also drove it down a highway and gunned it [for a second as I got above the speed limit :-))] and it reacted immediately. Lord, I hope that I am gushing this much in 12 months time :-) and thanks for your tip about fixing in place the folding seats - I will check it out [some reviewer complained about this "problem" - it would be nice to send him the tip :-)].

I know how you feel, I waited 3 weeks for mine even though im here in the US. I really wanted a Japan-made V in Silver with grey leather. I got what I wanted and it was well worth the wait!
