I was at the dealer getting my radio code and asked about getting rid of the horn beeping when the alarm is armed and disarmed.

The dealer called their alarm guy who quite easily got rid of the beeping. With car off, he turned the ignition key on and off 3X very rapidly and then pushed the button 2X in the back of the alarm sensor below the steering column. Bingo, no more beeping on and off. Personally, I find this and any alarm to be a real pain in the arse. I might disconnect the horn from the alarm. Nobody pays car alarms any attention anyway...

Note that I searched and looked all over this site and could not find a similar thread. Apologies in advance if already documented previously.

I say this because the horn doesn't beep upon locking and setting the alarm unless you purposely press the lock button twice. Th=is gives you the "confirmation beep". It is only a confirmation that you pressed it once already and it is already armed and locked.

After-market alarms tend to beep/chirp, etc. upon the first press of the lock button.

I have an 02 EX. The alarm was factory installed.

One of my neighbors has the same generation CRV and it does exactly the same thing.

Sounds like it is an aftermarket alarm. None of the 2002's had an alarm from the factory so it would have had to be added by the dealer and a lot of dealers put non-Honda alarms on all the cars on their lot.
Does it have an impact sensor that triggers it if it senses vibration? That would be another sign since the Honda alarms only have a glass breakage sensor.
The CRV Honda alarm doesn't have a button anywhere to push to do any sort of programming. Your neighbor probably has the same brand alarm in their CRV. Generally the dealers use the same big alarm company to do all of their alarms so it wouldn't be uncommon for them to have the same one added even if they were bought originally from different dealers.

-remote lock/unlock = no sound, chirp, beep
-upgraded to shock sensor package (karr via honda dealership service)
-arm/disarm honks horn (once for arm, twice for disarm)

-one dealership said it would cost $65 to disable the arm/disarm horn honking
-will shop around other dealers

retailer/installer: attempt to guide procedure over-the-phone failed:mad:
manufacturer: attempt to guide procedure over-the-phone sucess:D

wonder what the dealer would have done or said what they would have done:confused:

how do i do this on a 2003EX? I don't have the honking on my saab, and i prefer that over the CR-Vs honk

Thanks!
