Found this site while researching for my new car. Just made a deal on a 2008 CRV (Tango Red). Now I just have to wait for it to come in! This is my first Honda. Always been a Made in the USA kind of guy, but I traded in a 1998 Ford F-150 on this Honda. It was a good truck, just time to let it go. Before the Ford I had a 95 Jeep Cherokee, and have always liked the SUVs. The Jeep got terrible gas mileage though, which is one of the reasons I went with the CRV instead of getting a Jeep Liberty.

From everything I read, I think I made the right decision with the CRV. They seem pretty popular and everything points to great reliability and resale value.

I look forward to reading the posts on this forum. Seems like a nice place.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Black Pearl - I'm in the top end of Mercer County. I get down your way every once in a while. My GF likes shopping in the strip district and getting bread at the Breadworks. I used to live in Carnegie back in '93-'94 when I used to teach electronics at the ITT Tech over in Greentree by the Parkway Center Mall. What a miserable job that was!

Welcome reakin,

I just signed up myself on 9/15. There is alot of good info here. I think you will be happy with your new CR-V. I just turned 100K on my 04. It has been great! I live in the eastern part of PA in the Poconos...The AWD comes in handy.
Talk to you soon.

My son went to Thiel in Greenville for one semester than transferred to a closer college. Carniegie to Greentree--pure hell. We still do a bit of joy riding up around your area. Traffic is much nicer.

My GF works at Thiel. She is an academic advisor in the Academic Services Center. Also teaches a class for freshman on basic study skills.

Reakin, like you I owned the so-called made in the USA automobiles.
Recently I switched to the Honda CRV (2007 LX 4WD) purchased new in April '07.
I had been driving Fords (most recently a '03 Escape, and 2 4WD Rangers before that). The Escape was fine for the first two years, then down hill ever since. Transmission work, coils went bad, chewed rotors like candy, and rust in places I have never seen rust - inside the vehicle at the seat posts!
Body integrity that was terrible.
Well, 57,000 miles later, I bought, at the urging of my wife, a CR-V.

We (mostly her) have had Honda cars for 11 years, and just last week, we added the '08 Civic EX to our fleet. I took over her '03 Civic EX with 74K on to use for work, but so far am shocked at the CR-V's MPG. Yesterday, while traveling round trip to Altoona, I pulled 30.6 MPG with the CR-V. The Escape never came close to that.

So far, I just love this little CR-V. The ride is excellent, the power is not bad, the factory stereo does its job and the vehicle just cruises along.

You have made the right decision, Hondas are popular, have awesome reliability and the resale value is out of this world.

Now if I could only find some nice Honda accessories!!
Maybe even one of those Danica Patrick hats...

Cheers,
Mike

Welcome Mike

My 04 AWD EX CR-V averages 27-28mpg. That includes city driving. I am happy with that considering I drive 700+ miles a week in all kinds of conditions. I know I am giving up some MPG's hauling around the AWD system...
