Just curious if anyone has used their factory head unit with aftermarket speakers? I am looking to upgrade a little but like the factory head unit (mostly). My last car had Monsoon system (Volkswagen) and it sounded so much better than what the CR-V has.
I am looking for something with a crisper sound, more bass (not trying to be ghetto, just add some depth).
If you have experience with aftermarket speakers, please let me know what you think of yours and if possible include the make and model of the speakers!
Thank you in advance! :D

I installed a Kenwood Woox subwoofer in the back of the car under the plastic table. It really adds a nice little boom boom. Honda has a tweeter kit for the dash board I want to put in later. I upgraded my stereo to a Sony unit that handles mp3 encoded cd's and has an aux input for my mp3 player. The Sony lets me remove bass to the factory speakers (high pass filter at 125 Hz). With little bass they sound fine. However I know Crutchfield has an adapter kit to put normal 6 1/2" speakers in the doors.

Just wondering, what size sub do you have under teh table. I was considering a 10." Like teh OP, I definately don't want it to sound ghetto, just a little deeper. Tell me, does the picnic table rattle badly when playing at high volumes during heavy bass lines. I have a plan to swap out my Head unit, both sets of 6&1/2" door speakers (run those 4 off their own amps to be mounted under the seats, and I'd like to add a 10" sub under the picnic table
for a little more punch.
Troop: Do you have pix of your setup/install.

So I found a good deal on some components, they are Rockford Fosgate P162S has anyone had experience installing these in their CR-V... I am hoping they will not be to deep, they look pretty deep. I will try to install them this weekend if I think about it I will take pics of the install.

The subwoofer is a powered enclosure with a 6 1/2" speaker and 150 watt amp. Here is a link to crutchfield. I bought it for $150 off the web from another company:

Here is a picture of the unit installed in the V. I used industrial velco to fix it in place. The table does not rattle, maybe the rug is holding it down.
