I just picked up a 1999 crv. my buddy has one as well but his is an automatic. At a hundred kms he is saying his Rpm Gauge is reading just over 2000 rpms. mine is more like 3000.
Does this sound right. I feel like I could use another gear in mine. it sounds pretty high at 120 km's an hour. (can you get a different Tranny for it?)
and I read that the Speedo's are higher than they say they are but my GPS unit says its lower. so do the speed camera's at construction sites.

Thoughts.

BillyIt sounds absolutely perfect. The manaul tranny V's have approximately 15% lower (higher numerically) gearing (final drive ratio). They do not have as high of a top speed of as the auto tranny models but will accelerate a little faster due to that steeper gearing.

s to the "high rpm's", IGNORE IT. It is a Honda and it was designed to rev high - even all the time, if need be. Many a member with a manual tranny model has logged over 250,000 miles with no engine issues as long as they keep the valves adjusted.

As to the speedo, do you have stock size tires? If not, that is why the speedo is reading high.

OK now I understand 2RedV's. Billy's profile says that he has a LX 4AT. Couldn't figure out why two ATs would be that different.
