The local Honda Technician said try your forum for the answer. Delighted to see all your comments. I am new to this so hope iI make sense below. Here goes:
The standard tyres on 2007 are 225/65 R17
The standard tyres on 2005 are 215/65 R16 (for a diesel sport varaiant)
I have done my calculations (correctly I think) and it appears that there will be a 3.74cm height difference in the wheel/tyre diameter total (from tyre edge to tyre edge). Will this matter and will the 2007 wheels fit in to the wheel arches with no catches etc.
Also will the 3.74cm height difference affect use of the 16 inch spare I have in case of a puncture with one of the four running 17 inches (assuming they will fit).
Anyone know the answer out there. Thanks John

Since there have been a lot of people with 18" and 19" wheels fitted, I think your real concern will be the offset, not the slightly increased diameter.

Thanks very much 2RedV for that. I have noted on some threads they mention width as a poss issue. Do you think 1 cm wider at 225mm will be a problem?
I'll get the profile in order. I am in Glasgow Scotland where it used to snow in the winter but not for quite a while!

try the tirerack.com site to see if it is listed as an optional width.
I have `07 wheels on my 2003, they fit perfectly with no rubbing.

Hi Smig,
Just returned from holiday and noticed the exact situation you have with regard to my question. I now have the wheels in possession and I have several negative viewpoints expressed by others. Here are far too many Q's but here goes: Is the decreased torque at the point of road contact going to have an effect on the drivetrain. This will result in the overall invrease in diameter of the wheel. Is there more role in the car as I have worked out that the total diameter increase is 4cm and increase ride height?. What do you use as a spare now? Is your CRV a diesel? The fact that they don't rub is a bonus but I wouldn't want to damage the gearbox or 4WD system obviously due to the extra effort the car has to mahe with the greater wheel circumference. Let me know if you have any info/thoughts. Your car looks very good with the wheels on by the way.

You will not do any damage to the drivetrain. The only thing that matters to an all wheel drive CR-V is that all of the tires are the same circumference.
1 cm isn't much at all. Both of our V's read 62mph on the speedo when the V is actually doing 60mph, confirmed via GPS. Since a taller tire will make fewer revolutions per mile, it may help your speedo a little more accurate.

Yes I had come to a similar concusion with respect to the speedo becoming more accurate. If I were to use the smaller (16'') spare wheel for a while (eg during puncture repair) would this cause any damage anywhere?

it will fit and work the only thing you will show on your odameter a bit slower than your really going its the same bolt pattern 5*114.3

I just bought a set of the 07 Alloy wheels for my wifes 02. They came with the TPMS. I don't need them, so if anyone wants them let me know!

I'd follow Honda's guidance they give when using the skinny 'get you home' spacesaver spares. Due to the 'odd' loading on the 4WD system they state you should restrict yourself to a maximum of 30mph for no more than 30miles to avoid damaging the diff.
Can't be bothered with that stuff so I carry a can of tireweld at all times.

I've just bought a set of 07 rims only for my 02. I'm thinking of trying to keep the rolling radius the same as I've got the opportunity to spec my own tyres. The rims are 6.5" wide so I'm thinking 215/55/17 as a tyre size. Does that sound like it'll fit to everyone?

I'm planning on buying a set of 5 17inch wheels from a 2007/08 for my 2006. My plan is to fit 225/65/17 to increase the ground clearance. I'm wondering if the larger wheel for the spare will fit on the back door? There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of clearance with the 215/65/16. Has anyone successfully fitted the larger wheel as a spare?
Digsy, I'm sure you'll be fine with 225/55/17

Interesting, my 07/08 rims only came as four. I note the new gen doesn't have the spare on the rear door - does it actually come with 5 full size alloys then?
As I've only got 4 I need to stick with the standard rolling radius so I fit the spare if need be.

Just got them fitted with 225/55 R17 General Grabber UHPs and they look the dogs danglies. Not so low profile that they look silly on an SUV but close enough to the OEM rolling radius not to cause any problems I hope. The Grabbers look great - they have a really chunky tread pattern - and the reviews on Tyre Rack and other sites seem great. I'll keep you updated as to their performance and post up some pics shortly. :)

Hey Conrado,
Wheels looks great. I want a set of 5 (including spare) with the size 225/65/16.
What size tire are you running? If larger, can you tell me if one of your alloy wheels & tires fit on the back door?
When I look at the stock tire on my car, the clearance at the base with the stock size diameter tire seems pretty tight and I'm not sure a larger size will fit. I'd greatly appreciate if you could tell me if yours fit.
Cheers
