Hi there! New to the forum and the CR-V.

About a month ago, my '02 Civic auto transmission (105k mi) went out so I was forced to either pay $3500 to get it fixed or start looking at something else and find and install a replacement transmission ourselves. My husband and I have been driving Civics for a while and well, that doesn't really work for when we have kids so we decided to get something with more room, but nothing too different than driving a sedan. We test drove an '03 CR-V for a couple days and while we loved the features and cargo room, we ended up finding so many problems with that particular one, we took it back to the dealer Monday morning along with a 2-page list of issues and went elsewhere.

Went to a different dealership and found our friend still working there so we decided we'd try to work with him. After going back and forth between the '07 and '08, we finally decided to borrow my brother's unused car and wait for the black '08 that the dealership had already been assigned. It's been a very long 3 weeks of waiting, but we finally got the call yesterday that our car was in! Picked it up this morning with a whopping 5 miles on it and have so far loved the first 50 miles I've put on it.

Here are a couple pictures I took this morning...more to come soon! Austin has several beautiful picture spots that we'll be taking advantage of.

I got a kick out of the dealership's custom water bottle label (Howdy Honda):

New home (next to my broken Civic):

It needs a good wash and wax so we hope to do that within a week and take more pictures. :)

Looks great,love the color. Let us know of your MPG's. I'm sure you will use the traction control and sway control with all the hilly curvy roads in Austin area. Remember you will want to use the lower gears on a lot of those down hills,the overdrive kicks in at about 48mph. The inertia sensors will require you to get acquanted as they sometimes kick in just after you put the brakes on. It makes you fell like it wants to go faster when you are trying to stop, not much but you can feel it. It will happen on level and down hill braking. If it bothers you just put the overdrive off and it's less evident. Something I do to a new vehicle is to wax even the inside painted portions of the doors and under the hood. do it last as it can be dirty. Then when you wash, if you do it yourself, use Blue Coral car wash and wax,it gives a great shine. Walmart has it,and you'll need a wash brush with extendable handle to reach the top.The rinse water will bead up due to the wax in the blue coral. Just use an old bath towel and dry it. You're going to love it. Just remember to always check behind it before backing,as it's hard to see because it sits so high.

Will definitely comment on my mpg when I've gone through a few tanks worth.

Thanks for the info on the overdrive and tendencies. Luckily, I don't encounter too many natural hills (read as: I drive mostly freeway overpasses) so I shouldn't have many issues with that.

Also, regarding washing, my husband actually does detailing on the side so we're plenty stocked on Meguiars wash/wax supplies. I'd be a little hesitant to use a bath towel to dry as it may damage the paint over time. We use microfiber mitts for the paint and terry mitts for the bumpers and wheels. I'm so anxious to wax it to see just how deep that black pearl can go. :)

Hello!

I'm new to the forum and desperately in search of a 2008 EX-L in black but can't seem to find one in Socal! But I'm hoping to purchase within the next couple weeks so if you don't mind me asking, what price did you pay?

thanks =)
