View Full Version : Noise from Transmission or ABS?

I could use some assistance in identifying a sound I hear from my 2005 CR-V EX (automatic transmission). The sound only occurs when the car has been shut off for a few minutes and when I accelerate into 2nd gear, approx 15 MPh. It is not loud but enough to notice. I would describe it as a grind/creaking sound during the shift. I took it to a couple of Dealerships to test drive with a mechanic. The Dealership I bought the car from told me it was a transmission problem. The dealership closest to my job told me it might be the ABS turning on and should be nothing to worry about (something they have seen with the Odyssey). Both dealerships would like to put it on the racks to inspect it further for $110.00. I don't like going into these things blindly and would appreciate any feedback on what might be the issue.

Thanks,

Thanks,
DiggerIs your 2005 already out of warranty? Have you had the transmission fluid changed? (Not flushed)

Luckily it is still under warranty and no I have not had the transmission fluid changed.

Strange that it only once at the start of driving. If I were stopped at a red light it doesn't happen.

I'd be suprised if it was the ABS and u didn't notice, since a light flashes on your dash everytime the ABS engages, you'd also feel a significant change in the acceleration/handling of the car.
I'm not a mechanical expert, just talking from what i know from driving my car.
